    ACTIVITIES:

LAND ART WORKSHOP ALONG THE MAIRA.docx

WHERE: along the Maira torrent, not far from the school and which, with its course, outlines the Savigliano territory

WHO: pupils chosen for the mobility in small international groups

    WHAT: Land Art work

MATERIAL: natural elements present in the area, dry branches, stones, earth, water; external elements such as string in rope

    INSTRUCTIONS

    - Observe the surrounding area, listen to the sounds and noises present (stream, trees, animals).

    - Identify natural elements that can be used for a Land Art work (stones, earth, dry leaves, detached branches..).

    - In addition to what is already present in the area, strings of natural rope can be used in addition to what is already present in the area, but these will be removed after the work has been created (please take this into account).

    - Remember that in any artistic work I advise not to overdo it, follow the motto 'Less is more"

    - Starting with the natural elements that you want to use, think about what to propose as a Land Art work.

    - EXAMPLES: these can be works on the ground (on a grassy clearing or by channelling water along the bank of a stream) in which the materials create a design that fits into the territory in a way that enhances something natural that is already present, or they can be vertical installations, hung by exploiting what nature has made available, intertwining branches with each other using twine

    - CREATIVITY IS A MUST

    - Produce individual sketches to propose to the group. After viewing the sketches of each member of the group, try to design a work that fit well into the territory

    - Divide the work among the group members, organise the various stages of work

collect, sort, weave if necessary, start arranging the various elements to initially rehearse, assess with the group whether it works in practice, whether the initial idea does not need to be revised

    - Realise the work

    - Once the installation is complete, observe the final effect

    - Write down observations about the work from different points of view and take pictures and make a video,

    - Give it a title

    - Describe briefly in written form so that you can present your work to the other groups

    - Take photographs of the work from several angles, both close up and from a distance

    INSTRUCTIONS

    - Choose a work to be made, even a homage to famous works (the working group)

    - Divide the work among the group members

    - Make a stylised and enlarged drawing of the work (respecting proportions)

    - Tear out newspaper pages (well so as to use the whole size)

    - Consider how to insert the pieces of paper and what type to use (small tubes or strips to be rolled up, explained verbally on the spot)

    - Fold or roll the paper and close each prepared element with a little glue (make different sizes, the tubes will be cut to size at a later stage)

    - Prepare many elements so that you have enough to make the work

    - Start cutting the tubes to different sizes to cover all the spaces in the design

    - Arrange them in a herringbone or linear pattern depending on the visual effect you want to give

    - Position the large and small washers to occupy the spaces in the design

    - Observe the work continuously in order to correct and make improvements to the final effect, the artist's work must be legible

    - If the work is satisfactory you can proceed to glue the various pieces permanently onto the support

I really liked representing nature and its pollution in a giant diagram with my new friends

    Lyna corsica

My favorite activity on Wednesday June 1st June was when we did Land Art, everyone was able to express themselves to say what they felt.I liked it a lot because we were all in solidarity with each other. And I liked the system of taking only natural things, which came from nature, we can create something that makes sense.

I liked this day but it was sad because it was the last day with my
