MEETING IN POLAND
15-18 NOVEMBER 2021
Because of the Coronavirus pandemic all around the world, including our four countries, the project meeting in Poland took place over a year later. It was also a bit shorter than previously planned but anyway, we were all happy to meet and to work together.
There were three partners participating in Rydułtowy: Poland, Greece and Romania, the Bulgarian partner could not travel due to the pandemic situation and joined some of the activities online. Each school was represented by students and teachers.
During the meeting the following activities were organised:
- integration workshops for the project team led by a school psychologist to make the students get to know one another, a tour around the school and a tour around the school neighborhood and the most important sights in Rydułtowy with a traditional Polish dinner
- a Kahoot quiz “What do you know about Poland?” prepared by the hosts for the guest students and teachers preceded by a presentation about Poland
- maths in English (vocabulary connected with Maths, „What do you associated the number with?”) maths in IT lessons (Fractals) and workshops (using active methods, ICT)
- Maths competition for the project group – the competitions covered some general aspects of Maths, it was divided in three parts – a kahoot quiz, arithmetic tasks, logical quizzes ; all the parts were done by the competitiors working in pairs, then the scores were added and the winners of Each part were announced (Bulgarian group took part in the Kahoot game online, they did the rest of the tasks at their school))
- Maths with a difference works hops – „How obserwant are you”? and „It’s so logical”
Additionally in Poland we discovered Cracow – a UNESCO acknowledged site (visiting the Old Town and discovering its most important sights with an English speaking guide, individual sightseeing with "measuring Cracow" tasks). Having a whole-day trip to Cracow we had an outdoor lesson of architecture and Polish culture and history.
The meeting ended with evaluation activities and certificate ceremony and a trip to Rybnik (a guided tour in the centre of the city by Polish students, Maths in shopping).
Among the results of the meeting activities there are educational materials such as lesson plans, worksheets, tasks, comeptitions, presentations as well as non-material outcomes like students' greater knowledge concerning partner countries' (especially Poland); closer insight into the Polish system of education and the students' work at school, the participants' greater motivation for learning Maths and related subjects and, above all, their enhanced language skills, friendships and self-development.
