The eTwinning team of Aristoteleio College / Thessaloniki had the pleasant opportunity to “meet” online the correspondent students of the Aalst Lyceum of Belgium! As part of the e - Twinning program the students have been collaborating on common projects and carrying out many activities such as communication with written language and/or exchange of e-mails. However, until now there has not been any direct communication between them. The coordinators of the schools, Ms Papachristou Mary –teacher of the Greek Language and Philosophy- from Thessaloniki and Ms Nina Vandepapeliere –teacher of English Language - from Belgium agreed on the date and time of the meeting. Ms Kokkinou Helen, ICT teacher and active member of the project, organized the computer class so that everything would be ready for a flawless communication. Although at the beginning of the “meeting” the students were ... a little shy and hesitant, they soon felt confident and found common ground to discuss. The Greek and Belgian education systems, the level of student life in the two countries and of course “Tomorrowland” were some of the serious issues that were prevalent in their discussion. We wish the fruitful cooperation of both schools would continue in the future.

1st of March 2016: An online-Skype meeting (a first effort with connection problems) between the teachers and the students of Saint Saint Cyril and Methodius Secondary School, Asenovgrad, Bulgaria & 3rd General Lyceum of Karditsa, Karditsa, Greece. We wished each other 'Kalo mina!' (in greek language) that it means 'A happy new month!'. We realized that we both have a common custom-a traditional activity. Here in Greece every 1st of March we wear a red and white bracelet in our one hand until we are going to see the first shallow in the sky or until Easter. We wear this bracelet for having health and happiness and also as my grandmother Stavroula Katsanou said 'Wear it so the sun couldn't burn you!'. In Asenovgrad they have Baba Marta or Granny March as I found out. It is a fictional character which makes martenitsi and gives them out to people for health and happiness. Thank you all for your company in a very special 1st of March!

4rd SKYPE MEETING:15-3-2016
- Saint Saint Cyril and Methodius Secondary School, Asenovgrad, Bulgaria &
- 3rd General Lyceum of Karditsa, Karditsa, Greece
Today 15/3/2016 there was a Skype meeting between students from Bulgaria/Asenovgrad and students from Greece/Karditsa. They are all members of the eTwinning project A.B.C.: Active Book Club. The students talked about the common book of their club ‘Alan Turing: The Enigma’ by Andrew Hodges, about the movie ‘The Imitation Game’, about their cities and areas, about their hobbies, about the singers and actors that they prefer, about sites in Greece and about some customs that characterize their culture. It was really a fine discussion between students that wanted to learn more about each other! Students from Karditsa were toughed when they informed that they are going to receive a parcel with Martenitsi from their new friends. Students from Karditsa found out their existence and discussed in their previous Skype meeting in 1/3/2016. A Martenitsi is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two dolls, a male and a female. Martenitsi are worn from Baba Marta Day (March 1) until the wearer first sees a stork, swallow, or blossoming tree (or until late March). The name of the holiday means "Grandma March" in Bulgarian and the holiday and the wearing of Martenitsi are a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the spring, which according to Bulgarian folklore begins in March. Thank you Blagotveska teacher administrator from Bulgaria and all the students for being good partners, great friends and very generous!

The students from the Aristoteleio College/Thessaloniki/Greece had mr. Characopoulos Xristos as a visitor to their school.
