5th Learning, Teaching and Training Activity held virtually - organised by the Italian school

This activity was carried out online longer than a year after it was supposed to. Originally, it aimed at exploring the evolution and assessing the sustainability of our urban planning practices as well as jointly creating artworks inspired by our cultures.

It included two main tasks:
1) a survey of examples of traditional and modern sustainable urban planning practices across our regions;
2) discovering and explaining the interinfluences among our traditional and modern art;

We did our best to carry out our tasks online! It was our first virtual mobility which turned out really successful despite the fact that a good number of participants had not yet even returned to their schools after the CoVid19 lockdown. Those who had returned to normal classes at school were under an increased pressure for exams. Prior to it, the teachers had held several discussions online in order to agree on the most convenient arrangements for all schools.

Within the scope of this activity, the host school prepared several ice-breaking and interactive activities as well as a virtual tourist guide programme for the guest participants addressing various urban planning and cultural aspects. 

At the beginning of each meeting day, we were challenged by our hosts to guess the meaning of a typical Italian gesture. The gestures were displayed on videos created by the Italian team.

We were also virtually guided inside and around the hosting school, Liceo Artistico Matera, with the help of this artistic video focussing on the art works of our hosts.

One of the highlights of this meeting was the virtual sightseeing in Matera, a unique small city with a long history and a great urban planning significance. The hosts prepared almost professional videos to guide us in the narrow strees and the hungouts of Matera.

We also learnt a lot about the environmental benefits of the traditional urban planning practices  sustained in Matera. Plus, we saw videos of its proclamation as a European capital of culture and clips of films that have been shot in this amazing city.

Our presentations were made online this time either on Slides or on video and afterwards we used a Padlet to interact via written and multimedia texts both synchronously and asynchronously. The Padlet, entitled "The most beautiful in the world" alluding to each of our cities, had been created by the hosts beforehand to accommodate several aspects of our cities like Urban History and Planning, Local traditional Art, Souvenirs, etc as well as a section on the Environment since the penultimum day of our meeting was dedicated to it!

After each team had made their presentations on Art and Urban Planning and got started with the Padlet interaction that was ongoing, we made our common products which were a Quiz on Art masterpieces and another on Urban Planning practices.

Another "common" activity was the creation of digital and interactive posters for the meeting by all teams on the Canva app at the same time under the guidance of the ICT teacher of the Turkish school.

As a closure to the meeting, we sang a KARAOKE version of Stevie Wonder's song "Isn't she lovely?" dedicated to our cities, to Europe and to our planet, Earth!
