The aim of this activity was to help raise the awareness of our students as to the significance of traditional remedies as intangible cultural heritage as well as to promote the entrepreneurial potential of natural sustainable health practices.
First, the students investigated their national heritage as regards alternative medicinal practices and created presentations to share at the meeting. These were linked to the agricultural goods presented beforehand. Therefore, the teams focused on medicinal herbs and plants, teas and tinctures and their health benefits. Besides, we explored other practices independent from agriculture, such as spas and mineral water springs, cupping therapies etc. and discovered how many practices we have in common.

Many cities in both Germany and the Czech Republic have the component „Bad“ in their name, which means that there are lots of mineral sources in the region. Bad Vilbel has a big company which sells mineral water, and Bad Nauheim and Bad Homburg are famous Spa-cities for more than a century now.

They also presented us a token of the Turkish intangible cultural heritage which is included in the UNESCO cultural goods, a special 'treat' with healing properties that constitutes a long cultural and religious tradition still alive in Turkey:
The Spanish team treated us with seed bags containing cherry stones and lavender which we used later by heating them in the microwave and putting them on our neck for natural instant relief from tension and pain.

As a follow-up activity, we collected traditional remedies from all our six countries and classified them according to the health problems they are recommended for. The common product of this activity is the role-play ‘Doctor Nature’ which was further utilized by the Greek team in their English classes for the dissemination of what we learnt from this activity to our school community.
