Visits - DE

  • Engaging actively with the world and linking students learning to life beyond the classroom.

The German mobility's subjects were sports and technology. Both subjects offer multiple possibilities to explore "life beyond" the pure school subjects. That's why we included a lot of visits and activities outside school.

    Here's what we did:

    Technical University Hannover

At the Technical University, we were welcomed by a friendly robot who explained us the work at the technical university and the importance of technology in modern times. After this, we got an introduction to the basics of the coding programm Scratch. The students then worked in teams of two to create their own computer games. They learned about the importance of technology these days (it's even in most of our kitchen utensils!) and the functioning of a programming language.

    Ice Skating in Hannover

Ice Skating is not only a popular kind of winter sports in Germany, on this day, it was also a good possibility to let off steam after the hard "brain work" in the morning at the technical university! It was also some of the participants' very first time on ice, so this part of the project also helped some students to overcome themselves and to make new experiences. It was lovely to see how the more experienced students and teachers helped the beginners, which the ice skating an important step in team building.

    Weser-Stadion in Bremen

The Weser-Stadion is an important stadium in Northern Germany and the home of the German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. First we visited the museum within the stadium and learned a lot about the stadium's and the club's history. After this, we had a guided tour through the stadium and got to ask all our questions. The students learned about the organizational, technical and media-related aspects of a football game and running a stadium. They were very impressed and some of them never thought that there's SO much more to a football game!

    Guided Tour through Bremen

Even though the mobility's main focus was on sports and technology, it's also important to give the students an insight into the country they are visiting. In this way, we broaden the horizons of the participants and promote their understanding of the other participating countries with their respective cultures. That's why we included a guided city walk in Bremen. They got to know important places in the city and also learned a lot about the historiy, architecture and today's importance of the city.

On the whole, the participants appreciated the visits and seem to have benefited from them:
