"MATILDA" a BOOK REVIEW
by Mattia C.(Comvass Sa)
I loved the book "Matilda" . It is pleasant and funny. The story tells about a child, Matilda, hated by her older brother and parents. In her first year at primary school, she already knows everything and is a monster of intelligence. The part of the book that I liked most is when Matilda discovers her superpowers and manages to move things with the power of her mind. This power saves her teacher and all the students from the perfidious Miss Trunchbull, a retired athlete who has become headmaster of the school.
In the end, Matilda's parents, take her into custody to the teacher, in order to get rid of her. The author's message is that intelligence and culture are the only weapons that a weak person can use against dullness, arrogance and wickedness. It also highlights the importance of reading, curiosity and tenacity. Matilda, actually, holds on and goes on despite the wickedness of people (parents, brother, headmaster) who should be, instead, the reference points in her life.
Matilda is a very famous book written by Roald Dahl. This graded version was published by Pearson Education Ltd in 1999.
There's also a film on this book named "Matilda 6 mitica" in Italy, but in the other countries , with the only name of "Matilda".
In this book, we meet Matilda, a very clever girl whose parents aren't interested in her but only for TV and money. They're also dishonest because Mr Wormwood, Matilda's father , sells broken cars to people.
When she goes for the first time to school , she's too late and there meets Mrs Trunchbull , a very terrible woman. She's the headmistress of the school.
She also meets Miss Honey, a very good teacher but a poor woman with a dark secret that Matilda discovers.
This book is funny and interesting for some twists, for example when Matilda discovers her powers.
From this book I learn that: Just like Matilda who uses her powers to protect herself and other people, we can defend ourselves using words that allow us to create a better world without violence.
