Math-consumption

  • December 2019.

    French student Thomas Chatenier, newcomer this year in the project, presents in the video below his work on the consumption task and his understanding of the EEVEE project.

    October 2019

    FR students aged 18 give below their contributions to this subject "consumption" based on the ES contribution. Since they could not understand all in details, they reated their own understanding of the documents taking the role of a mirror onto the ES production. In a second step, they continued the task.

    When we had to work on this project, we managed to understand the facts that they chose to separate the vehicules by type of fuel(Diesel;Gasoline;Electricity) per kilometers at an unknown speed and they calculated their comsuption of fuel ,their price and their emission of CO2  for that amount of kilometers.

    They increased the amount of comsuption of fuel for the electric car by 0.15 per kilometers and it's price by about 0.177 (euro we think) but left the CO2 emission empty since the electric car doesn't produce any.

    They increased the amount of comsuption of fuel for the gasoline fueled car by 0.055(liter we think) per kilometers and it's price by about 0.069 (euro we think) and increased the amount of CO2 emitted by kilometers by about 0.121(kg we think).

    They increased the amount of comsuption of fuel for the diesel fueled car by 0.045(liter we think) per kilometers and it's price by about 0.052 (euro we think) and increased the amount of CO2 emitted by kilometers by about 0.111(kg we think).

    The car that we chose is the BMW8 that has a comsuption of 0.018 liter per kilometers and an emission of 42 gram of CO2 per kilometers . It is an hybrid car using the electrical and gasoline engines that make it have a much lower amount of fuel consumed by kilometers making it release less CO2.

    We see that the consumption at any km/h of the electric vehicle is greater than petrol or diesel but for a lower price, the consumption is different than the fuel car because the car use electricity , the car itself don't produce CO2 emissions.This arguments holds for all amounts of kilometers. Unfortunately we don't have feedback about the unit of the consumption of the electrical car, we don't have comparison between the cost of production of electricity and the fuel. Between the diesel and the petrol, the diesel car has a lower consumption, a price and CO2 emission is less than fuel.

    Hello,

    We saw your video about comsuption. The 3 cars are powered by 3 differents energy. Concerning your calculation, we suppose that you multiply the kilometers by the comsuption of each cars. So we tried to find each formulas for each cars and we found this :

    Uelec = Qelec x n

    Ugas = Qgas x n

    Udiesel = Qdiesel x n

    U is the consuption per kilometers

    Q is the consuption of the differents vehicules

    N is the kilometers reached

    We noticed that the kilometer calculator starts at 1 and all the others values are at 0. So you should start the kilometer calculator at 0.

    We have done this project to compare the consumption in 3 different cars. We can see how the consumption and price increase when the cars run more km.

    Soon, spanish students will explain how it works.
