ASKANIA

There is a beautiful place which is called as Askania in İznik. It is the largest, most decent and most natural accommodation and eating-drinking facility around Iznik Lake. HAGIA SOPHIA

Iznik Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia) mosque is a building built in the middle of Iznik, where the roads from the four gates of the city surrounded by walls cross. 7th council, where important decisions are taken about Christianity. gathered in 787 in this church. After 1331, Orhan Gazi converted this building into a mosque. Today people can worship and tourists can visit there.

TILE AND CERAMIC MARKET

Suleyman Paşa Madrasah, which was built in 1332 by Süleyman Shah son of Orhan Gazi, was restored and re-arranged in order to keep the traditional tile art alive. There are nine art workshops in the madrasah which serve as “Çiniciler Çarşısı”. In these workshops traditional Iznik tiles are produced, tile art is taught and sold.

GOVERNERSHP BUILDING

Governor's office is a big and old building where you can apply for all of your individual official matters. It has a nice garden where you can do shopping from tile shops and buy souvenirs related with İznik. It also has a small and nice cafe where you can taste delicious Turkish Coffee.
