SPORT

  • Hi! Today I want to tell you about the  World Antidoping Agency.  This is an organization that coordinates and monitors fair play in sport all over the world. It does a lot of research to improve the fight with cheaters that take prohibited substances. The headquartes is based in Montreal, Canada. The fundation was set up on November 10, 1999. It has got it's own code, that lists all of the prohibited substances, basically what you're allowed to take and not.

Imagine sport without any control over helping yourself with a drug that gives you an advantage over the sportsmen. That was the case until recently. Advanced medical testing was not always available and that makes many people doubt the world recerds of many legendary athlets. They must have been taking something because now athlets cannot break their records. If you get famous you want more and more.

I'm honestly disappointed in all of the athlets that think that a natural way of training your body is not enough. They want something extra. Something that will give the advantage to make sure to win. Of course drugs are not healthy but who cares if you are fighting for gold?

    Girl Hockey in Norway

    Pia 13, Norway

In Norway ice hockey is quite a small sport. On the other hand the sport has increased in the last few years and a wide number of people have joined it. In Stavanger we are lucky and have a pure girl team. It is not common to have a pure girl team playing ice hockey, and we are actually the only girl-team at our age. Because of the small number of girls attending the sport, we play matches against teams mixed by both girls and boys, and also pure boy teams.

Girl-hockey is known for having an including environment, and everyone regardless of experience are welcomed.

Our weekends are often spent in the arena, playing matches. When we do not have season related matches we travel on tournaments or social team journeys to improve our team spirit!

In the last couple of years we have travelled on a girls-only tournament in the capital of Norway (Oslo). The tournament is used to increase the awareness of the sport, and promote girl hockey! In the end of the tournament they announce a winner. We have participated for the last 4 years, and won the last 3 years.

Since there are so few girls playing ice hockey, our girl team has a wide age range. The age gap is as wide as 30 years from the youngest player to the oldest.

In the beginning of the hockey season we organize a tournament called “Stavanger Oilers Cup”. We invite other hockey teams at our age, both from Norway and from other countries. Teams that are participating represent for example Finland and Poland. The tournament last for a weekend, and imply matches, food, hotel, disco and tickets to one of Stavangers elite teams hockey games.Screenshot 2017-05-05 at 16.47.21.png

    Handball

    By Andre Eikeland, Norway

Handball is a big sport in Europe. The top  three handball nations are France, Norway and Denmark. Currently the best team in the world is France. On the women’s side it’s Norway. Bilderesultat for håndballgutta

A handball course is forty by twenty meters. A match consists of two teams and two referees. On each team there are seven players. The game is all about scoring goals and stopping your opponent from doing so, just like in football. In the game there are two periods, one lasts for thirty minutes. The referee can give out yellow and red cards. He or she can also send a player to the bench for two minutes if they do something controversial.

You only have three steps with the ball but if you bounce it you have as many as you like. You throw the ball to your teammates. There are only two phases in the game, attack and defense. You score by throwing the ball in the goal past the goalkeeper. An average pro male handball player throws the ball at around 100 km/t. If the attack takes too long the referee gives the other team a free throw. There is a half circle in front of the goal were players aren’t allowed to go, only the keeper. This half circle is six meters from the end of the course. Bilderesultat for handball field

There are different leagues around the world. Some of the best ones are in France and Spain. If you win a game the team collects two points, tied is one and if you lose you don’t get any.

Handball is a sport with frequent injuries. You have to stay on you toes, sprint and tackle people for one hour. It’s common to get run over by other players or get hit in the head by a throwing arm. Even with these factors it’s a great sport!

     BOCCIA

    By Diogo Rebelo

Boccia is a precision Ball Sport. BISFED is the Boccia International Sports Federation.

Boccia started in Italy and it has been a part of the Paralympic Games since 1984 (USA). It tests the athlete's coordination, accuracy and concentration.

The most important competitions are the European, World and Paralympic Championship.

Boccia is a mixed sport, where there is no division by sex. It can be played individually, in pairs or by teams of three players.

The objective of Boccia is to place the coloured balls (six blues versus six reds) as close as possible to a target ball (white ball), which is strategically cast by a first player, into the game enclosure.

This sport requires a lot of concentration, coordination, muscular control, precision, teamwork, cooperation and strategy.

I am Diogo Rebelo and I have been practising this modality for about 5 years.

I really like this game because I put strategy into practice and at the same time I develop various skills, I meet several people.

It's a game that makes me feel alive and happy

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

A little bit about Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a football player from Sweden. He is 35 years old. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was born 3 October 1981 in Malmö. Zlatan is now married to Helena Seger who is 46 years old. Zlatan have two kids called Maximilian Ibrahimovic and Vincent Ibrahimovic.

    Childhood
Zlatan had it weary hard in his childhood, his father was drinking a lot and his mother didn't want him to play football she wanted him to focus on school instead of the football. But that didn't stop him from playing football, he didn't go to school just to play football. At that time he was playing for a club called Malmö FF. Every one in his team and in his school was laughing at him because  he said that he didn't need to go to school because he would become a football star. And for Zlatan that didn't hurt him it only made him more motivated.

    Career
At 2004 Zlatan moved to a club called Ajax, a small but historical team. At his time in Ajax he won the league two times and the cup one time. He kept on playing there until 2006 where he moved to Juventus, and at that time Juventus was a very big club. They had many mig players and Zlatan was now on of them. In his time at Juventus he won the cup two times but he never wore the league. After a while he got a new bid from Inter, another big Italian club. He played there for three years and won the Italian league 3 times. At his time in Inter Zlatan once got nominated for the Ballon d’Or but he only ended up in 9 place. After a have been knocked out from the champions league 3 years in a row he decided that he wanted to make a move to a Spanish club. So he got a bid from one of the biggest clubs in the world, FC Barcelona. They put a bid of 46 million euros and the Italian team accepted the bid. At 27 July 2009 Zlatan was presented in Camp Nou for 70 000 Barcelona fans. For Zlatan didn't start so good, he got injured very fast and missed the preseason. But he soon got back and won the Spanish cup against Athletic Bilbao. At Zlatans time in Barcelona he won the league once, the Spanish cup 2 times, UEFA supercup once and Club World Cup once. Zlatan soon got in a fight with the manager and decided to move to another club. After one season with FC Barcelona he went on a one season loan to AC Milan, when that season was done AC Milan bought him, Zlatan kept playing for AC Milan until 2012 where he decided to switch club once again. This time he got a bid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Zlatan accepted the deal and kept playing for PSG for 4 season. At his time there he won 12 trophies and scored 156 goals in 180 games. At 2016 he moved to Manchester United for free, the reason he was given away for free was because his contract had gone out. Zlatan have now played 46 games for Manchester United and scored 28 goals, It started really good for Zlatan but he soon got injured, he is still injured but he will be back at the start of 2018.

    Basketball

    by Domantas Jasinskas

My hobbie is basketball. I am playing it with my friends. For me basketball is the best game ever. I learned to play it when I was eight and realised that I love this game.

Basketball, “The second religion of Lithuania”, attracts the largest crowds to arenas and TV screens.Lithuanian national team matches in the Championships are the most followed. There is a championship every year: biennial European championships (Eurobasket), and once every four years the World championship and the Olympic Games basketball tournament. With a few exceptions Lithuania managed to qualify to all of them in past 20 years so the nation is rarely left without these events that unify it every summer or early September. From autumn to spring the season of basketball clubs takes place. The two teams that are most followed are “Vilnius Lietuvos rytas” and “Kauno Žalgiris”. These teams, representing two largest cities of Lithuania, are major rivals (at least their fans are) and they both play in multiple leagues: Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL), Baltic Basketball League (BBL). Depending on the season, one or both of these teams also compete in Euroleague, the most prestigious league where the richest teams of many European nations fight for the title. Recently, however, the duopoly of Lithuanian club basketball has been joined by "Klaipėdos Neptūnas" team from the third largest city.Unlike the national team, which has never been out of Top 10 at the official FIBA rankings, the Lithuanian clubs are somewhat weaker. Cheaper tickets and less advertisement revenue rarely let them compete against the might of the top Spanish, Israeli and Western European teams in hiring the best basketball players. Therefore the best Lithuanian talent usually plays abroad. Still however, with budgets less than 10 million euros per year “Žalgiris” and “Lietuvos rytas” usually perform remarkably well, with “Žalgiris” even having been the Euroleague champions in 1999 and “Lietuvos rytas” winning other international trophies.
