    SHEEP TRIP
    by Marta Czekaj, Poland

Once upon a time me and my class went on a school trip.

    Everyone was very excited.

The journey by bus took us 2 hours and the trip was dragging on mercilessly.

We were singing country songs and playing scrabble. It was fun!

    Everyone looked out of windows.

Because on the road there were sheep everywhere. They encircled the bus.

Teacher didnt know what to do.

Our tour guide get off the bus and wanted to caressed the sheep.

Driver said that everyone has to take sheep away from the bus, but animals came back every time, and again, and again...

We tried everything. The whole class boarded the bus and we headed back to school...

We didn't know that 5 mins later a farmer arrived and took all his sheeps from street...

     SCHOOL TRIP TO LONDON

    By Beatriz Loureiro

During the last Easter holidays, my school (Agrupamento de Escolas da Sé - Lamego) organized a study visit to London. The trip was was great and we learnt a lot.

On the first day we visited Trafalgar Square, the Horse Guards, Downing Street, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, St. James Park, Piccadilly Circus where there are a lot of street artists. We also visited Leicester Square and we had dinner at Planet Hollywood, a very funny restaurant with a beautiful decoration inspired by the glamour of Hollywood.

On the second day we visited Camden Market, Madame Tussaud’s, Baker Street and Hyde Park Corner. In the evening, at Lyric Teatre, we watched the musical “Thriller Live”, a stunning musical tribute to Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, which I loved.

On the third day we visited London Financial District, Greenwich, the Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory and during the afternoon the Tower of London, St. Paul’s, Millennium Bridge and Tate Modern Gallery. Before dinner we had a memorable experience in the London Eye: we saw the amazing views of London, over the river Thames.

On the last day we went to the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Oxford Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden.

Before dinner we bought some souvenirs and we went to the M&M’S World London.

I really enjoyed this trip and I hope to go back there someday.

Leonel and Liliana's thoughts about the schoo trip to London:

Our study trip to London took place from 8th to 12th April, and our two classes (9th D and E) and some 10th graders had a unique experience.

We went there with four teachers, our English teacher, Cristina Parente, Chemistry and Physics teacher, Benvinda Lourenço, the librarian teacher, Paulo Monteiro, Rui Rodrigues, Science teacher.

We spent 4 unforgettable days in this modern cosmopolitan city. We learnt a lot about its history, we explored the wonders of this charming capital. We visited some of the world's best museums, namely the British Museums, the Sicence Museum and the Natural History Museum.

It was a successful and educational trip and we learned lots of stuff and had a lot of fun! This is the ebook we, the 9th graders, made before the trip. A short film was also made before.

THE PERKS OF HAVING SCHOOL TRIPS

Most schools organise school trips from time to time, because it is not the schools' idea of heaven. But it is worth the work to see the children happy. So have you even thought of the benefits of school trips?

Let's start with the fact that the kids may have bonding time, for them to get to know people better. Teachers may discover what their pupils do in their free time, what they do for fun. What better way to connect with somebody while relaxing?

Then we need to take into account they went in that place for a reason. School trips may be all sweetness and light, but they always have a meaning, to learn while doing activities children don't usually do at school. Have you ever thought what was the scope of your latest school trip?

I personally think that school trips are good for everybody, even thought it takes time to put the trip in order. Doing an activity in an open space is probably a good idea for a lesson. I believe school trips are the best.

    Ptak Warsaw Expo

On Friday, April 7th, our class went on a trip to Ptak Warsaw Expo. It was a big exhibition of big and small animals in a former shopping hall in Nadarzyn, near Warsaw. When we arrived there, we were really astonished at how long the queue was: it started in the hall and it ended far, far away from the entrance. This was a congeries of all people: there were Poles and foreigners, toddlers to centenarians. The teacher told us to create small groups (of 3-6 people) and visit the exhibition together. So I was with my best friends, Basia and Emi. We went to the ,,C’’ sector.

We expected big, wild animals, but at last, when we went in the exhibition, we were confused and disappointed, because we noticed, that there weren’t a lot of interesting things: empty cages, furniture, pillows and clothes. But we found some animals: bees (the beekeeper told us, that there were approximately 3000 of them), hedgehogs, small fish, a dog, which did some tricks, a ferret (it was a toy, but we thought it was alive, because it was in a cage). ,,They didn’t have enough animals, so they had to bring some toys” – we said. There were also some alpacas and guinea pigs. That was funny and interesting, but we wanted to see bigger and rarer creatures.

We went to another part of this exhibition – sector ,,D’’. It was better and more interesting than the previous room. We saw there many animals and we took a lot of pictures. There was a big camel, wild and rare, beautiful fish, very big butterflies, snails, worms and spiders. Some people thought, that they were awful and scary, but they were in terrariums, so I liked them. There were lizards, iguanas, snakes and geckons. At that exhibit a little boy said: ,,The Boa Constrictor and where is the Polish Grass Snake?” One of the best animals were kangaroos – they were jumping really fast and far! We saw dogs too. In the middle of the hall there was an ambulance – safety above all! Next, when we saw that, we sat in a small Café. There were free bonbons . Afterwards, the teacher told us, that we were to join the workshops. We saw lamas, ponies, sheep, rabbits and chicks there – we could stroke them. Then my classmates made some small, colorful palms for the Palm Sunday. I didn’t. Instead I discovered a scandalous fact: it took me 27 minutes to wait until I could use the toilet due to a very long queue caused by the lack of toilets around. Finally, while we were preparing for leaving the exhibition, we walked over to a microscope stand- we could see for example: shark’s tooth and skin, see urchin, starfish, octopus’s shoulder, sharp’s egg and coralloid.

All in all, I think the trip was successful and interesting.
