Wind energy park -Grobiņa Wind Park

The biggest wind energy park in the Baltic states. Opened in November, 2002. There are 33 wind generators in Grobiņa wind park, every of them with power of 600 kW. Every tower is 77 m high. If the wind speed is 13 m/s then the total power of the wind park is 19,8 MW.

The Regional solid waste landfill “Kivites”  in Grobina parish The company takes care of all the waste generated in the whole Liepaja  waste management region, namely, depositing, pre-treating prior depositing and collecting biogas in energy cells. The company also produces and markets electricity, as well as heat.

‘’Ķīvītes Landfill Museum’’. There are things that do not end when the previous owner gets rid of them. The employees of the municipal waste management company SIA Liepājas RAS came to this conclusion, seeing how many interesting objects that can be seen as vivid testimonies of their time, end up in the waste, have decided to give them a new life at the Ķīvītes Landfill Museum.

Students from grade 6th  participated in the Forest Expedition. Trees help to slow climate change because they absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. Trees also provide shade, which helps keep streets and houses cooler in the summertime and reduces the need for air conditioning.

The Latvian State Forest Expedition is an approximately 2 km long educational hike in nature with 10 forest information stops led by experienced foresters. At each stop, the forester gives students practical or creative tasks, which they solve individually or in groups, recording the results in special workbooks.

Students from the grade 4th visited The Nature House.

6th grade students participated in the workshop in Riga Motor Museum entitled "Wind Energy". The students listened to a presentation on the sustainable use of wind energy.

The students designed the wings of the wind generator from the paper. Each of them placed  wings on the workpiece and measured the power of the electricity produced with the help of a fan. It ranged from 0.79 to 1.85 volts.

4th grade students visited  Industrial cultural monument "Liepāja Karosta Water Tower".

Currently, the entire, in this  historical water tower complex, is under the supervision of SIA "Liepājas ūdens".

It is not included in the centralized water supply system and does not have any operation in connection with water supply but the values to be preserved of the industrial monument are: external architectural form and the original substance, the construction volume of the building and the building materials used in it, the facade arrangement of windows, arching and decoration details, as well as in the building and adjacent to it elements of technical history.

The Water Tower has a great cultural and historical value.

Students got acquainted with Liepāja's water supply scheme and sewerage operation. There are 214 km of water pipes in Liepāja, 211 km of sewage and purified water is injected into the sea 1.3 km from the coast.

“What is the advantage of solar energy?”

They discussed about it and the result is that solar power is pollution-free and causes no greenhouse gases to be emitted after installation.
