Visit in Norway, the first Mobility

After a delayed start of the mobilities, we were finally able to meet each other in person in March 2022. We met up for an informal dinner and a first meeting at Ramberg school on Sunday.

It was so nice to finally talk and sit down together in the same room, after only seeing each other on Skype since December 2020.

On Monday we started the day at school. All the visiting teachers were divided into smaller groups. They were given a guided tour of the school by some of the students from 7th grade. They were shown around inside and outside. They also observed teaching in serval different classrooms. Some also got to talk to the students.

Then all the guests and all the teachers at Ramberg enjoyed a traditional Norwegian lunch together.

After lunch we had our first official meeting to talk about our project.

We also had a visit from a company that has just started up a local production of salads and greens.

In the afternoon we had a great time outside playing a game that the students at Ramberg are very familiar with.

In the evening the headmistress, Anne Merete invited everyone to her house for delicious dinner.   

On Tuesday we started the day with meetings, and a visit to a local company that sells and redesignes second hand items.

Then we had a lovely lunch at a café in town, before heading over to Moss city and industrial museum. They gave us an exciting tour of the old city of Moss.

In the evening we went to a local beach, where everyone got to try their hand at whittleing and and making food on a bonfire. It was quite a brisk evening so luckily  we had brought extra overalls.

On Wednesday we were back at school. The visiting teachers taught the students at Ramberg about their school and their work with the project. It was very interesting for the students and a lot of fun. We also gathered all the arts and crafts from the different countries and made a display at school.

After lunch we walked from the school to an art museum, Galleri F 15. There we got a guided tour of the exhibit about Edvard Munch.

In the evening all the teachers at Ramberg invited our guests to a big dinner. Two musicians came and played songs from all our countries. We enjoyed a great meal together and made many new friends.   

On Thursday we went to Oslo, the capital of Norway. We were invited to City Hall to listen to an engaging presentation of the plans to make Oslo a more sustainable city. We also had time for a fascinating tour of the city hall building.

Then everyone got a traditional Norwegian packed lunch, a matpakke. Sandwiches with cheese and meat.

Then everyone got the afternoon of to do sightseeing in Oslo.   

Friday was our last day together, and we spent the whole day having more meetings about the progress of our project. We made plans for the students to meet online and other ways to communicate with each other.

In the afternoon we had a meeting with Moss’ deputy Mayor and the leader of Moss’ youth council. It was inspiring to hear her talk about the importance of including the youth in the process of changing the way we solve problems.

In the evening we got together at Anne’s house for a traditional Norwegian “fredagstaco”, Friday taco dinner. We had a great time and it was a perfect ending to a great first meeting of all our new friends.
