Module 1: Food systems (Introduction)

  • Dear students,

Welcome to the first module of ESSAY LAND erasmus+ project!

    source: http://www.food.systems/

The issues around our food system are something we can touch every day because all of us are a part of food systems. Unfortunately, most people ignore its economic, social, and environmental dimensions.

Through these 9 modules we'll encourage you try finding a way to help your local community link their food choices to  the economic, social and environmental dimensions of food systems.

For this to happen we have to develop the complex set of interactions that are envolved in a food system; work together and influence multiple outcomes including our health, the environment, and the economy. We also have to think about all the activities that have to be done while food begins its trip from land to our fork.

While following the path of food we will identify:

-where and how people are involved,

-how our daily food choices influence and are influenced by the food system, and

-how this involvement influences to our lives and communities.

We will also develop the different food systems behind each one of our food choices.

There's also need to start identifing some things that could be changed about the food system so to encourage SUSTAINABILITY...

NOTE!! This is an introduction module. We'll focus in detail on our future modules. Our driven question "How could you help your local community link their food choices to  the economic, social and environmental dimensions of food systems?" will be the basis of almost the whole project, so you are encouraged to keep notes!
