From 26th April to 29th April 2022 the third student exchange took place in Braga, Portugal. Students from North Macedonia, the Czech Republic and Germany met with the local Portuguese students to work on the project.

On Monday, the day started with a visit of the school. The guests were welcomed by students in traditional Portuguese historic clothing and showed them around their school, explaining what makes their school special.

After that, students and teachers were warmly welcomed by the headmaster of the school. After a short healthy snack, the project work began.

The students from North Macedonia, the Czech Republic, and Germany gave their presentations on the local farms they had visited before coming to Braga in order to inform the Portuguese students about it.

Then, the students worked in small international groups on the evaluation of different lunch boxes, identifying the nutrients and calculating the calories to come to a justified evaluation of whether the lunch boxes can be classified as good, medium or bad.

For this, the students used the packaging that each country brought with them.

A very activating kahoot quiz completed the project work regarding healthy nutrition because the students had to use the knowledge the have gained so far to answer multiple choice questions on different areas related to a healthy nutrition.

After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, the students went to visit a local Portuguese farm where they had a guided tour learning a lot about Portuguese animals, plants and herbs and created their own lavender aroma sachet.

And since healthy nutrition is not just about eating but also about proper exercise. The day ended with a visit of Braga stadium, where the students had a guided tour and received the task to count the steps you need to take to go from the ground to the very top.

On Wednesday the students focused on working on particular aspects of the project again. Just like in Germany, during the visit in Portugal international communication was one of the main goals too. However, in order to put emphasis on how important the project is to the Portuguese as well as their guests the day began with a reception at city hall where the students were, again, warmly welcomed in Portugal and in Braga by the mayor of the city, Ricardo Rio.

In his short speech he stressed the importance of international cooperation and the role Erasmus+ plays to promote it. After that, the students divided into international groups and explored the historic city on different tours created by some of the Portuguese students.

Even though the weather did not play along and the students had to seek shelter from the rain from time to time, it was still a fruitful experience in which all participants learned a lot about the history of Braga.

After having watched the vlogs of students trying out different forms of nutrition, the students participating in the exchange were able to taste and appreciate vegetarian food first hand because lunch took place at the vegetarian restaurant "Hibiscus". Although some students uttered doubts about the taste beforehand, most of them agreed that the food was delicious and the restaurant worth a visit.

Moreover, the students also visited Braga market in small international groups in order to learn about Portuguese fruit and vegetables choosing food that looks odd, is unknown to them or has a weird Portuguese name.

To make sure that the last months of the project proceed as smoothly as the previous ones, the coordinators also met, to discuss the pending products, particularly the lifestyle book as well as the upcoming mobility to the Czech Republic.

On Thursday the whole team got on a bus to drive to Porto. Around 10 am the group arrived in Porto and walked to the banks of the Douro river. There everybody boarded a ship and enjoyed a cruise under five of Porto's most important bridges on the Douro river.

After that the team walked to the beautiful "Palacio da Bolsa" where the students enjoyed a guided tour and learned more about the history of the building as well as the history of Porto.

The visit ended with a delicious healthy meal at the restaurant of the stock exchange palace.

In the afternoon the students went to "Matosinhos beach" for some sports activities, like football and some throwing and catching.

There, you can also find some nice outdoor sports equipment for a good cardio workout which the students tried out enthusiastically before they drove back to Braga.

On Friday, the students were offered the chance to visit "Bom Jesus", a UNESCO world heritage sight. This was particularly interesting for the German students because their school is a UNESCO project school that is deeply engaged in projects related to world heritage sights. However, the experience was worthwhile not just for the German but for all students because the landmark's architecture and design is exceptional and the fact that it contains approximately 600 steps that needed to be climbed could be counted as an effective workout.

At the top the, the students split up into international groups for a scavenger hunt across the area in order to learn more about the history, culture and architecture of Bom Jesus. In addition, they had a little boat tour on a small lake at the top of Bom Jesus before a heartfelt goodbye and the journey back to the hotel.
