23 April: Books day
World Book Day (also known as International Day of the Book or World Book and Copyright Day) is on April 23. The annually celebrated day is organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
It is on this date in 1616 that Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors, such as Maurice Druon, Haldor K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo.
It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those, who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity. In this regard, UNESCO created the World Book and Copyright Day.
Try and read a book today or complete the one you are reading already. Its painful that people don't have time to read books but can chat the whole day on things next to nothing in value. There are three things that make up who you are; the books you read, the people you associate with and the places you go to. Read a book today!!! Happy book day to you all!!!

22 April: Earth's day
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network[1] and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year.
On Earth Day 2016, the landmark Paris Agreement is scheduled to be signed by the United States, China, and some 120 other countries. This signing satisfies a key requirement for the entry into force of the historic draft climate protection treaty adopted by consensus of the 195 nations present at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

22 March: World Water day
Why a World Water Day?
World Water Day is an international observance and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference. World Water Day dates back to the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day. It has been held annually since then. Each year, UN-Water — the entity that coordinates the UN’s work on water and sanitation — sets a theme for World Water Day corresponding to a current or future challenge.

13rd February: International Radio Day
UNESCO’s General Conference, at its 36th session, proclaimed World Radio Day on 13 February.
UNESCO’s Executive Board recommended to the General Conference the proclamation of World Radio Day, on the basis of a feasibility study undertaken by UNESCO, further to a proposal from Spain.
Radio is the mass media reaching the widest audience in the world. It is also recognized as a powerful communication tool and a low cost medium. Radio is specifically suited to reach remote communities and vulnerable people: the illiterate, the disabled, women, youth and the poor, while offering a platform to intervene in the public debate, irrespective of people’s educational level. Furthermore, radio has a strong and specific role in emergency communication and disaster relief.
There is also a changing face to radio services which, in the present times of media convergence, are taking up new technological forms, such as broadband, mobiles and tablets. However, it is said that up to a billion people still do not have access to radio today.

Trafficking in human beings which can be classified as a modern form of slavery is a serious crime inolving a violation of basic human rights.
Traffickers exploit vulnerable people for financial gain, by tricking or forcing them into (mainly):
- prostitution / sexual exploitation (79% of cases*)
- forced labour (18% of cases* though increasing in some EU countries)
Less-common forms of exploitation include forcing victims to beg and removing and selling their organs.
Trafficking in human beings is often linked to other forms of organised crime the UN estimates it is the second-biggest source of illicit profits after the drugs trade.
More infos by using the EU page: https://ec.europa.eu/anti-trafficking/citizens-corner/trafficking-explained_en

17 October : Eradication of Poverty
The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed every year on October 17 throughout the world. It was officially recognised by the United Nations, but the first commemoration of the event took place in Paris, France, in 1987 when 100,000 people gathered on the Human Rights and Liberties Plaza at the Trocadéro to honour victims of poverty, hunger, violence and fear. This call was made by Joseph Wresinski (1917–1988) founder of the International Movement ATD Fourth World.
The 2015 observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is a special one, as it comes on the heels of the adoption of Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Agenda, which succeeds the Millennium Development Goals, contains 17 new and ambitious goals – foremost among them, to “end poverty in all its forms everywhere".
- Do you believe that there is no way to cure poverty? What "poverty" means for you?
