Primary School of Pastida
Two poems against racism from a student (since today is also International Day of Poetry)
Αγώνες για την ελευθερία να μην χρειάζονται
κι όλα με την ομιλία να φτιάχνονται.
Στον τόπο του άλλου μην εισβάλλεις
και χωρίς την άδειά του τον προσβάλλεις.
Το χρώμα δεν κάνει την ψυχή
και το νόημα δεν βρίσκεται εκεί.
Να μην κρίνουμε τον άλλον από τα ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά του
αλλά από το μοναδικό νόημα που έχει στην καρδιά του.
Όχι στον ρατσισμό πες,
μην εισβάλλεις και μην προσβάλλεις,
την ιδιαίτερη ψυχή του άλλου.
Την ίδια στιγμή, μια άλλη στιγμή, μια άλλη καρδιά και μια άλλη ψυχή πληγώνεις,
μα την δικιά σου μειώνεις!
Αν καλύτερος νομίζεις ότι είσαι,
μπες βαθιά, μέσα στην καρδιά,
σκέψου τι κάνεις και μην το ξνακάνεις,
μην το συνεχίζεις, πριν είναι πια αργά...
ΟΧΙ στον ρατσισμό, πες!
In Petroupoli, Pastida's poem free-style ranslation:
"Fights for freedom not to be needed
as all can be through with dialogue.
Don't invase to some other's place
being there without his permission and insult him.
Soul is of no color
and the meaning is not there.
Do not judge on the othes external attributes
but focus on what he keeps in his heart.
SAY NO TO RACISM!
Not invasive, not offensive
towards other souls.
You say "another heart and another soul hurts",
but at the same time, and all that time, you abase yourself.
If you think of youself as better,
and behave like this
LOOK DEEP INTO YOUR HEART!
THINK who you are, who you could be
you are an instance of a chance...
Do not keep on, it's already too late ...
SAY NO TO RACISM!"
Pastida's students also made drawings and some painted their faces in such a way,
as to point out the equality among all people,
black or white!
