Musical instrument crafts
We made percussion musical instruments with the children using round paper boxes, metal boxes, balloons, and colors. We also made a guitar with a rectangular paper box and for strings, we used rubber bands.
Music games from a distance
The children used their mother’s pots and pan to produce musical sounds and some other kids used their own musical instruments to «compose» their own melodies.
We listened the classical piece: The carnival of the animals, composed by Camille Saint Sean. We realized that the musical instruments were different according to the animal that was presented every time. We played a game of mathematics combined with listening skills. We had cards showing the animals and the instruments and we had to find the wright match. After that we made masks of the animals and the wright group of children should get up and dance according to the musical piece playing. For example, when the elephant’s music is playing the children with the elephant masks must dance!
