For the first approach, we based our teaching process on module 2 of the environmental studies textbook for 3rd grade students, and module 1 of the same textbook for 4th-grade students. We expanded the teaching process by combining this subject with that of mathematics and specifically with geometry. Specifically chapter 3 for 3rd grade and chapter 5 for 4th grade.
Βoard Games
Step one: We played three games as follows: We created three stations in the class and every team has to play for a particular time (10 minutes) every game. At last minutes I made questions in order to assess what the students have learned via a quiz competition. Then, they were rewarded those students who did it well by putting a sticker on the dashboard of their team. The games are connected with the subject of learning about the environment and include a game through which the children learn about the basic towns and monuments of Greece, one puzzle through which they learn the borders of Greece, ( many of you you can see your country), the seas of Greece and another geographical context, and a card game about the prefectures of Central Greece and their capitals.
Step two: We were impressed by the game of Bulgaria and we asked them for more clarifications. They said to us that the bee is a robot. They gave to us explanations about how by using technology it is oriented to space. We decided to search for something relevant and we discovered Scratch.
Step three: We programmed a game using Scratch and we shared our work with other countries. Our game is available at Shape with repetition
