    Holocaust Memorial Day

At the end of our project about democracy we visited a few institutions, we also went to the synagogue and to the district of Nordend, where we visited the stumbling blocks commemorating the young Karolina Cohn and her family. They lived there until they were deported by the Nazis to Minsk in 1941.

Karolina Cohn was a Jewish girl. Her triangular silver amulet was found by archaeologists in Sobibor, a former concentration camp. The amulet had a Hebrew lucky formula as well as a date of birth and the place of residence: Frankfurt am Main. The investigations revealed that the amulet must have been Karolina Cohns. Since Karolina Cohn was born only a few weeks after Anne Frank and she also possessed such an amulet, there was speculation about a possible friendship between the two. But in the meantime it is known that all Jewish girls at that time received such amulets from the community.

There's an expression that says: "Man dies twice. Once when he dies physically and a second time when he is forgotten." This won't happen because we won't forget.
