About “Democracy, Environment and Art(s)”

  • The activities and preparations are taking place for the week when Escola Secundária José Saramago - Mafra will host the Transnational Learning Activities (04 - 08/11/2019).

On the 3rd of October 2019, the project group went to visit the ALJUBE MUSEUM - RESISTANCE AND FREEDOM, in Lisbon, that is dedicated to the memory of the fight against dictatorship and resistance faced between 1926 and 1974 in favor of freedom and democracy. This municipal museum, that is a former prison for those against the Regime, promotes responsible citizenship and assumes the fight against the forgiving amnesia of the dictatorship period.

How we were all concentrated and eger to learn more about the lack of freedom during the Regime, especially in the Art(s) domain.

    Come visit the Aljube Museum!

We invited the poet José Fanha to come to our School Library, on the 16th of October 2019, to talk to students about his life and works regarding "Democracy".

He read some of his poems.

In the Library background, behind the poet, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, prepared and printed at the beginning of the project, stands for all to see!

SDDS project students read some of his poems.

As a token of our appreciation, nothing better to offer the poet than a local handicraft about José Saramago, the Nobel Prize for Literature and Patron of our School.
