Educational robotics national competition in Italy

  • From 11 to 13 April at ISIS Valdarno we have hosted around eight hundred teachers and students from all parts of Italy for EV3 robot competitions among schools. Our STEM team for Erasmus has taken part to these competition.

    A great number of students, teachers and parents from all over Italy has invaded  the Province of Arezzo. San Giovanni Valdarno from a city of art has become  the city of the future, becoming the Italian capital of educational robotics. ISIS Valdarno welcomed more than a thousand people on Wednesday 10 April to compete in the "Robocup Junior Academy" 2019 national educational robotics championships, which will decide the Italian champions who will represent the country at the European championships in Germany.

    School manager Lorenzo  PierPierazzi, in addition to presenting the program of the competition days, brought the greetings from the Minister of Education Marco Bussetti, who ideally referring to our students says “I know that in your event there will be workshops, seminars for you and your teachers. It is important not to neglect this aspect: the technology should not be demonized, but we must be able to manage it to the fullest. Now it's up to you: concentrate and engage in the races. I cheer from a distance. But above all, have fun. I am sure that you will carry the memory of these days forever in your heart ”. The ceremony was streamed live on the official YouTube channel of ISIS Valdarno, and the same will happen with the awards ceremony on Saturday 13 April. This morning, Thursday 11 April, the races have officially started at ITT "G. Ferraris ”and at the Palagalli building of San Giovanni Valdarno.

     The teams under 19 and under 14 competed in the Rescue Maze, Rescue Line and Soccer Ultralight competitions and at the same time the On Stage races were held, where the robots together with their creators performed very original choreographies. Tomorrow the rankings of all the categories will be released, and on Saturday 13 April the finals will be played; appointment then from 12:00 of the final day of the competitions for the awarding ceremony that will see qualify the teams that will compete in Hanover on the occasion of the European championships.
