January 30th - the 3 hierarchs
On January 30, the Eastern Orthodox Church honors Vasilios, Ioannis and Griogorios, the three standouts patron saints of literacy and education. They lived during the 4th century AD, in the early Christian years, and devoted their lives and possessions to the offering of man. They were very well educated and mastered the classical Greek education. They left a great deal of writing work. Our school, like all schools in our country, honored the three hierarchs on the 30th of January. All students and teachers attended the mass at the adjacent church and students presented the saints' biographies. At the end of the mass it is customary to distribute bread to the attendants. The bread is sweet and made for this special feast. It is sanctified during the mass and symbolizes that those who share it join the large Christian family.

2019-Celebrating Christmas in Acharnes
Today, Friday, December 20, 2019, our school has organized its own Christmas celebration that marks the end of lessons and the start of the holiday for Christmas holidays. Students, with the help of their teachers, prepared a rich event full of carols, Christmas songs, dancing and reference to the new and older customs with which our people celebrate Christ's birth and the coming of the new year. Every year the school organizes also a Christmas bazaar the proceeds of which are used for charity.

7th of November anniversary
“the fight starts again, new fights,
Leaders and hope, the first dead…”
Again, we celebrate in our school the anniversary of the polytechnic school events as usual. The 17th of November is an anniversary celebrated by the youth of the nation, youth full of hope and dreams for the future.
This day, people, both young and old, we honor those youths that resisted the military junta and stood against it at 1973.
The military junta of the colonels started at 1967. Several officers of the Greek army, thinking that the political situation in Greece was full of corruption, decided to take control of the country themselves.
Since that time started a fierce manhunt of politicians, the exile of political dissentients to the desert islands, the tortures and beatings of simple citizens. All the democratic rights of the citizens were revoked. Elections stopped, labor and student unions were disbanded, there was no freedom of speech, a general curfew was imposed and no meeting more than three people was allowed.
Soon a resistance was formed. At 17th of November, after the military junta denied the request of the universities students to hold university elections, the students took over control of the polytechnic school of Athens and started a revolution against the military junta.
“… and so, they started fighting with the snakes,
They killed them and they were killed themselves.
But they managed to wake feelings at the people that they had long forgotten.
They baptized in the fires of the revolution words that had lost their meaning:
Freedom, Democracy, Equality, Friendship…”
Since then 46 years have passed. The fires that were lit that night in Athens in our souls, lit new roads for us to walk, a climb that is difficult to walk but so very beautiful. Roads open to the future.
Those roads of the resistance and peace we tried to present through this event that was attended to our school by the parents, the students and teachers of our community.

October 28, 1940
Academic year 2018-2019
October 28, 1940 is one of the most important moments in the history of Greece. Our heroic people raised its stature and denied the unconditional surrender to the Italian fascism during the Second World War. Our school with a modest celebration honored the "NO" of our people and its struggle against Nazism and Fascism.

Our school, participating in the nationwide celebration of the 17th of November 1973, organized a school event to commemorate the heroic deaths of the student rebellion. The protest of the students of the Polytechnic in 1973 very quickly became a pan-Hellenic insurrection and liberated our country from the seven-year oppression of the junta of the generals.

The three hierarchs
On January 30, 2019, no lessons were given to all the country's educational institutions because the three hierarchs, Grand Master Basil - Gregory of Syrian Nazi - John Chrysostom, were honored with speeches and special activities. The three saints of our church are patrons of letters and intellectuals and the orthodox church has set 30 January as a day of honor for these three pillars of the spirit.

Academic year 2019-2020
The memory of a people is its history. As Greeks we have to preserve our memory and honor those who glorified it. Every October 28, we remember, honor and thank those who refused to submit to the conquering plans of Nazism and Fascism. We celebrate our people's refusal to submit to the almighty axis of Germany - Italy and its heroic resistance. Glorious events are taking place throughout the country, culminating in the great military parade in Thessaloniki, the cocapital of Greece.
In our school, as in all Greek schools, on the occasion of the 28th of October, the students, in honor of the heroic ancestors, prepared a beautiful event and presented it to their parents and other classmates.
