C7 - Teacher training , Lucé France, October 2019

  • The week had two themes cultural exchange enhancing knowledge about French “art de vivre” as well as school system and exchanging good practice how to make sciences more attractive and inclusive focusing on climate change and how it is implemented in the local community.

These objectives were achieved through discussions, lecture, visits and workshops.

French team hosted teachers from partners countries: 2 teachers and the head mister from Croatia, 2 teachers from Poland, 2 teachers from Finland, 3 teachers from Portugal.

In college Edouard Herriot, mainly 8 teachers and the CPE (pupils’ main supervisor) created and held activities and/or workshops, 2 members in charge of inclusion of special needs students participated to a “round table”, headmistress took part to some discussions and ceremonies. All the school staff has helped preparing this week (pupils’ supervisors, canteen agents, accountant).

Day one: Monday 30th - at school and in Chartres

Meeting at school, and welcome ceremony to start!

    meeting the Headmistress Miss Dubois

Thanks to school visit,  discussions with teachers and special needs pupils’ responsible (Anne GAUDRON and David COCHENNEC, below) , it has been possible to compare the different school systems gaining ideas from each others .

In addition, they met government representative at “le conseil départemental” and got the opportunity to ask questions about French school system organizations and were asked about what is done to make their city “greener”.

Participants discovered French culture while visiting and enjoying the richest diversity of Chartres most famous streets and historical monuments (its cathedral belongs to UNESCO patrimony) as well as Parisian typical architecture symbol of industrial revolution (Haussmann style) , Eiffel tower, Jardin des Tuileries. Visiting Le louvre, cooking with a first star chief from Chartres and participating to stain glass workshop in Chartres – world known for its blues glass- was a fantastic way to experiment French culture.

ICT activity: back to school Participants learnt how to disseminate their work using Canva

Day two: Tuesday, 1st October- Cultural and ICT activities

Culinary privileedge experience with chief Benoît CELLO from the Grand Monarque restaurant. Cooking 2 recipes created by students. We are hosted in the CFA (centre de formation pour adultes). Students will prepare, cook and clean the kitchen like real cookers:)

where the chief works : https://www.bw-grand-monarque.com/fr/restaurant-bar/restaurant-le-georges.html

Back at school, teachers learnt how to use Canva and helped pupils translanting and sharing recipes as posters using  Canva

    DAY 3: Wednesday 2nd October 2019

    Chartres and biomass power plant

Stainglass workshop and visit of the cathedral

    https://www.centre-vitrail.org/fr/formations-vitrail/

Teachers visited a biomass powerplant  CME (a brand new powerplant in Chartres, and got the chance to interact with technicians, asking questions about the process and the gain of energy).

In the afternoon, Coordinators had a 3h meeting  to discuss about mobility to Croatia, dispatching tasks about mobilitytool, and the collaborative story...Efficient and always in a good mood!

    DAY 4: Thursday 4th October 2019

    7:15 departure for Paris

9:30 – 11:30 guided tour in English of le Louvre's famoust masterpieces (unfortunatly Mona lisa won't be exhibited ..)

11:30 departure for la villette Cité des sciences museum

    DAY 5: Friday 5th October 2019

The second theme was explored with: participating to a presentation of a STEM based learning project using scientific method: creating a window farm to reduce air pollution in classes. Teachers discovered  how, while raising climate change awareness among pupils, sciences were being more attractive (physics, biology, math and technology) by using for instance 3D printer and how it can be implemented in lessons (here to help the watering of the window farm). They attended to biology and physics lessons using CLIL methods about sustainable energy, windmill and vegetables needs.

8: 10 – 9:10 Workshop 1 " learning by playing about energy (CLIL methods)“ Physics activities about energy, water treatement... (board game)

    - 9h10 to 10h00 Workshop 2 " buildind a windmill with electric devices“

    - 10h15 to 11h10 Workshop 3 „ greensustainable your classroom » exhibition of the windowfarm

    - 11h15 to 12h15: Workshop 4: „ what are the needs of a vegetable cell ?“ biology activity

    13:15- 13h45 Workshop 5 : „How improving the school windowfarm with 3D printer ?“ discovering how a 3D printer works

Workshop: „climate change and pollution: understanding why Fairbanks, Alaska is so polluted „

Teachers participated to a scientist lecture about pollution in Alaska; they discovered how the city implement sustainable habits to reduce pollution (for instance: city rental bikes, free “portable” ashtrays, buses fed by biogas).

lecture about by Tjarda Roberts from the CNRS - LPC2E (phusics and chemistry sciences reaserch) in English

    https://www.lpc2e.cnrs.fr/

    15h40 - 16h00 : Tjarda's interveiw by students from each country

16h00 – 16h20 – Workshop 7 (part 2) : dissemination „meeting a scientist report“ ICT room : students from each country write articles on Twinspace about the lecture and Tjarda's meeting on a comun padlet and translate in their mother tongue if not finished: then homework :)

16h20- 16h30: online end of the week assessment

And it was time to say good bye...

fareweel speech, certificates , Farewell cocktail
