6. WORLD READ ALOUD DAY(01 Feb)

  •

We will  have a LIVE EVENT among classes at 10:00 -10:30 CET where each class will read in native language a very short story-myth and the teacher (or a capable student) will say the short moral of the story in English. We will have the pleasure to share languages and see -maybe- that the morals are quite the same.

Petroupoli, Greece "The farmer with the 3 sons" (AESOP's Fable)

A dying Father called his Sons to his bedside in order to give counsel. He said: “There is a great treasure hidden in one of the vineyards.” Shortly after that he died. The Sons, upon his death, took up implements and carefully dug over every part of the land. They found no material treasure, but the vines yielded an extraordinary crop because of the care.

Moral: "No pain no gain", "We create the our fortune", "Industry (Labor) is itself a treasure"

Latvia will read a fairy tale

Ukraine will present a fable of a famous Ukrainian poet Leonid Hlibov:

Poland  will present a fable of a famous Polish poet Ignacy Krasicki:"Czapla, ryby i rak" / "Heron, fishes and crayfish"

    EXTRA ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL LIBRARIES

    for READ ALOUD DAY

    •  at Petroupoli

    28-01-2019

Celebration for World READ ALOUD DAY had started today at Petroupoli and were combined with International HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL Day. Students of B2 class that participate in the project, had reading aloud activity with both Literature and ICT teacher in class (Katerina and Athanasia) of Anne Frank's diary. They had read in turns and they had a discussion after. Students were very impressed with the posts that eTwinners teachers had shared on the padlet of the onsite event that our school has created and we will create a presentation of these posts on ICT class. We are thankful to eTwinning community of this massive participation.

In Dorohoi, this day was the inspiration for this drawing

    Interesting fact:

In Slovenia children can listen to fairy tales as they are read by the inhabitants of four homes for the elderly:
