Romania, The project - the second year of activities

  • Lesson ideas:

    1. Games Panos about energy  - understand the sources of energy. In all schools we play the game. Narges will send the cards belonging to the game.
    2. Lesson plan for climate change (Panos)
    3. Visit Oasis (water supply) in the Netherlands during the visit.
    4. Building a sand filter in your class to clean the water (easy in your classroom)
    5. Visit auction, trade centres, growers. Export/import of food lessons  (check possibilities in your country)
    6. Supply chain: colouring fabrics with natural ingredients (Lithuania/ Sweden will give input)
    7. Game: build a city without communications – intercultural (Paula)
    8. Edukans game (different ways of communication) (Paula)
    9. Children stand back to back and are angry to each other. Outcome: They understand what happens when you cannot see each other and the risks of using different media like WhatsApp etc.
    10. The day without electricity (check internet) 15 th of February / Warm sweatherday   - children write down their experiences. Every country sets its own date. Children make an essay in their own language, how did they experience this. Put outcome on the website page of your country.
    11. 22 th of April –Earth day (consumer behaviour)  Exchange of ideas to solve it during visit in the Netherlands / small words, simple, pictures /presentations. They present it to each other in the Netherlands. Also create a Kahoot game about the 22 th of April - the children can play in the Netherlands. (The children do not have to present their country)
    12. Communications chain (whisper words to each other) What happens?
    13. What would change in the world when there are no phones and other means of electronic communication.
    14. Exchange small notebook between the schools/ School 1 send the notebook to School 2 about a central question -> add something – send it further and so on. Northern Ireland (Gavin) will start with the main question: which language will be our communication language when the UK is out of the European Union? Every country has to motivate why their language has to be the new communication language in new projects.

    Paula will make a schedule (we put it on the project leaders website), two weeks after receiving you ‘ll send it to the next country.

    Contest

    • We agreed that we give the tool exchange one more try, every country uploads their picture of the tool on the home page of Little Scientist. Claire will write a document with the questions and upload it on the website. Please discuss and fill this document with your pupils.
    • Please upload your outcomes (activities, pictures etc.) on the Little Scientist website. It is an important outcome.
    • Italy asked for help. (Johan)
    • Skype is interesting -> Spoken language can be translated. But the aim is also to communicate with each other in English.
    • Johan and Panos will pass the ideas (Socrates, Kahoot). Instructions will follow on website. First try it in your own school. Maximum Question number (minimum 15, maximum 20)
    • App puzzle matches (available for IOS and Android)
    • Make a Kahoot game with the children and share it with the partners – for different grades (6,7.8) and (9,10,11). Every country has to make two games. For ideas or questions see energy game website project leaders Greece Energy game.
    • Deadline to try in your school Middle of March.
    • Panos and Johan will test it between Greece and the Netherlands. We will inform you all about the steps through the website.
    • Play the game with other partners: 11 th of April 2019,

    time first group (age 6,7,8):  11:30 (Greece Time) = 10:30 (Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Sweden) = 9:30 (Ireland time)

    Same day the second group (9,10,11): 12.15 (Greece time) etc
