To raise awareness among our students we planned a field trip to the port of Badalona where the non-profit organization Proactiva Open Arms is based to visit their sailboat Astral. During the week of 21 to 27 February it was possible to visit their first rescue vessel, Astral, as part of their awareness campaign about their task they do in their rescue missions of people who risk their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.   

The students had the opportunity to visit the sailboat and listen to the first-hand testimonies of the Greek Savvas, skipper of the Astral, of Mariona, a volunteer who has participated in various rescue missions, and the explanations of Pau Pérez, responsible for communication of the organization. The truth is that we were all very impressed by the dramatic stories that they shared with us and the students quickly asked how we could collaborate. They suggested we collect practical and simple food, easy to preserve and transport, such as celeral bars, rice biscuits and raw rice packages for their next missions. We are sure that the initiative will be very welcome among our school community and that the solidarity campaign with Open Arms will be a success.
