Geometric patterns developed on a circular frame

  • In this page, there is a classification of the common patterns involving circular and semicircular frames. The students went through the material and discovered the following shared principle underlying the patterns in a mosaic and in two lintels. The research they did, the comparative study and the identification of the common constructive elemenst helped them better consolidate the geometry philosophy of the project and realise that knowledge is universal and can be manifested in different times and places.

     

     

    In this section we are dealing with geometric patterns which are developed on a circlular or semicircular frame.

    The common idea in all of them is the following:
    We devide the circle in a number of arcs. The number of arcs depends on the number of repeated patterns around the circle (ike Ocean's God I) or semicircle (like Lintel 1 and 2)
