Memorising number π!

  •                                     Memorization techniques about the number π

    In this page the students were introduced to ways of memorising the known digits of the number π. As a task, they were asked to write collaboratively a poem where the number of the letters of each word would help them remember the order of the digits. The Greek students started and other students completed the poem.

     

    The number π has an infinite number of digits. A useful and fun way of remembering at least some of these first digits are π mnemonics with letters; short texts (stories, poems) with the words having a number of letters corresponding to the digits of this mysterious number.

    An example of a π mnemonic:

    See, I have a rhyme assisting

    3      1    4    1    5          9

    My feeble brain,

    2      6           5

    Its tasks oft-times resisting.

    3      5         8                9

     

     

    The first 22 digits of Pi are :
