The tree planting
Noemi‘s (15) first thought about planting trees was „Nice to do something for the forest.“ But at the same time she asked herself if it wouldn‘t be too hard for them. She was very interested in how it would be. Anyway she was looking forward to doing it.
The main reason for the project was the protection from the avalanches and erosion. Without trees the whole slope would be washed down into the valley. For now there arent`t enough trees and those, that are there are too small and too few to withstand. Because of that every year in autumn, the rangers of our forests go and plant little trees, so that they can grow up and hold back water, when it rains a lot. For the biodiversity we mixed the forest with different species again.
Wednesday, 22nd September: It was a hard work carrying up the trees and the tools up to the mountains and Noemi needed a break every now and then. But it was also a lot of fun talking to the classmates especially after the holidays and after the long time of homeschooling.
And in the end Noemi thought „We did it! We’ve planted 300 trees in one day!“

OUR VIRTUAL MEETING
Monday, 18th of October 2021
At 8:30 our first video conference with the other students started. We didn´t know what we had to expect, so all of us were very excited. First we upacked the parcels with traditional food from the other countries. It was very interesting to learn what kind of food people from other countries eat and how different these are from the food we know, even if they aren´t that far away from us. After that we made a little language challenge with all four languages( German, Greek, French and Spanish).

This day started with a lecture from our math teacher Mr. Kahoun about "code hacking". It took 1 1/2 hours. We learned a lot about techniques of encrypting and decrypting messages. After that we had a short break. Later we worked together on twinspace about the topic "getting depressed because of facebook?", which we had chose before. We also learned some new vocabulary, and checked our knowledge in a kahoot( online game).
Wednesday, 20th of October 2021
That day was wokshop-day! Everyone could choose one of the three workshops: song-writing, emojis an handgestures, and posters and advertising. Our class chose song-writing and emojis! We worked on it with the other schools and at the end the song-writing team presented a selfmade song about the Erasmus-Project. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the time together. All in all, the virtual meeting couldn´t replace a face-to-face meeting, but it was succesfully nevertheless and we learned a lot of new things about other cultures.

In December we wrote Christmas cards for our friends in the other countries.

Strasbourg - 4th to 7th May 2022
First a security check just like at the airport, but everything was fine and everybody was allowed to visit the huge institution. We had met some of the MEPs with their little suitcases in the tramway and you knew that they were going to the parliament for work just as we did. The MEPs mostly wore a blue or black suit, so it was a very elegant dress-code.
When we entered the hemicycle I was impressed by the size of it. It is such a big room with so many seats for the MEPs. I was excited and grateful to get the chance of following a real debate about the situation of women and children in Ukraine. It was very, very interesting and awesome how fast the different translators were able to translate the speeches in such a short time.
I felt very angry, ashamed and disappointed at the moment when a German MEP from the AfD party expressed himself about the fakenews that women were the victims of the war in Ukraine. It was so outrageous how he spoke about the suffering women and it still hurts me how some people can have these bad thoughts.
I think it is important to have a look into the parliament’s work because you get an inside view of how the political system, the laws and the decisions about Europe are made. It also shows you how much work and time the MEPs have to invest in their job They have a very strict and fully planned day. But it also makes you proud of the cohesion between the countries, how strong they are and what they can achieve together. So I really, really appreciated that!
