    Sunday 29/05/2022

Today the German, Bulgarian and Czech schools arrived! Professors Patoner and Storniolo together with the italian students went to the station to welcome the new arrivals! Germany arrived at 2.17pm by train, Bulgaria at 5pm again by train and the Czech Republic arrived by minibus at 6pm directly in the school parking! Families come to welcome their partners: girls and Bulgarian teachers, on the other hand, are accompanied to the hostel having made the choice to stay together and not be hosted.

The students are delighted! They showed the welcome banner and we took photos to immortalize their first live meeting! Even the parents appeared happy and calm: anyone who had difficulties, we invited them to write on the Whatsapp parents group! While with foreign colleagues we have created a separate Whatsapp group!

The teachers were accompanied by the Italian coordinators to the hotel and hostel where they were helped to complete the check-in!

     Monday 30/05/2022

Everyone to school! At 7.55 am, meeting at the main school  (Sede) for the welcome of the headmaster and the discovery of the school! The headmaster Bortolotti warmly welcomed the new arrivals and the Italian coordinators introduced the students to the program and some fundamental rules to follow during the week (no mobile phone except during the lunch break!). Then the students of the Succursale moved to their school!

Teachers and pupils then split up: the pupils did a short peer to peer Italian course with their partners, while the teachers were accompanied to visit the school and take a look at some projects such as the reading project and the various laboratories!

After the break, the entire classes were involved in a group activity to get in touch with the new foreign friends! The classes involved were 5 second classes and 2 third classes for a total of 157 pupils! We kept them divided by class and, together with the new foreign companions; they were invited to create a new environment with a name, a language, a flag, a national anthem, a typical dance, a typical dish and so on. In the meantime, foreign teachers were invited to attend lessons: in the art and Italian subject by the Succursale, in the music and technology subject by the Sede (unfortunately the music teacher was not found!)

We ate lunch in the main hall of Dante elementary school: catering from the Buonissimo supermarket, avoiding creating too much crowding in the school canteen (Covid is still lurking!)

In the afternoon we accompanied the boys on foot in the historic center of Rovereto explaining some cultural and historical peculiarities to them! They are equipped with maps and information booklets kindly offered by the Tourism Office of Rovereto!

At 5pm the Austrian school arrived! Now we are all here!

Appointment at 6 p.m. for all coordinators at the restaurant "Ai tre pini" for an aperitif-work! We discussed the week's program and agreed on the dates of future mobilities in Germany, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic only for the staff.

At 7.30 pm the parents began to arrive with their children and partners! We are 97 ... help !!!! It is beautiful: a welcoming and warm atmosphere is immediately created! Foreign teachers are introduced to parents and a good adventure is wished! The applause is raining!

    Tuesday 31/05/2022

Everyone went to school for an hour-long lesson! Participating pupils went with their partners to their classrooms where all students were invited to write questions on paper that foreign pupils have to pick and answer! Unfortunately the headmaster of Germany was not here with us: she sprained her ankle the night before and couldn’t walk!

Departure for Lake Garda is scheduled at 9! By bus we arrived in Torbole where we embarked for Malcesine! Short stop in Limone, without getting off the boat. The italian teachers talked about the influence of the climate by the lake in this place and the creation of a microenvironment in which lemons grow! From the boat we could see the crops!

In Malcesine we went to the Castle of Scaligeri! A jewel! The view is beautiful and the small rooms of the museum are very accessible to students: the fishes of the lake, the plants that grow around it, the stones with the fossils, Goethe and his poem dedicated to Limone “Wo die Zitronen blühen”, the Scaligeri family and their influence over there!

After an hour free to have lunch and buy souvenirs, we embarked again! Destination Riva del Garda! Surprise: Malik, the German boy, took the train by himself and arrived in Italy! The italian family accompanied him to Riva to his partner: Emanuele is delighted! A short walk in the historic center and we returned back home to Rovereto!

    Wednesday 01/06/2022

Meeting was at 7.45 am at the train station and we left to Trento. The 19 Italian children with 24 foreign students and 12 teachers have reached MUSE, the natural science museum, where they visited the exposition "The mountains: from origins to the summit" with an English guide. The group is divided into two groups. After the visit, the group went to Piazza Duomo for a packed lunch and a visit to the historic centre.

In the afternoon, the group reached Castel Beseno where a treasure hunt in the medieval world awaited them! It was very hot, Bulgaria could not walk to the Castle and preferred to join the small village of Besenello. The other students walked to the Castle and went on the treasure hunt! Everybody was very tired, but happy! We  returned to Rovereto at 5.30 pm.

    Thursday 02/06/2022

In Italy it is a national holiday! We decided to take the group to magical Venice! We left by bus at 7.30 and after traveling the Grand Canal with the boat we met our two guides: one Italian and one English. With our audio guides we spent a magnificent day dedicated to culture and beauty: we visited the Naval Museum, the Basilica of San Marco and the Fondaco dei Tedeschi from which we enjoyed a magnificent view of Venice.

The children singing and chatting on the bus cheered the return! Like a big family!

    Friday 03/06/2022

Today we involved all 7 classes in the morning activity and leaving on foot from the two schools we met at the Peace Bell in Rovereto. A very symbolic place! We chose to end our week there by reminding the children of the importance of our choices in favour of peace and brotherhood. The Regent of the Bell and his collaborators made a speech to underline the importance of our choices in favour of respect and peace, above all at in this moment with the war in Ukraine. We officially closed the mobility week giving to the countries the certificates of attendance and a small gift produced by our pupils in the recycling laboratory at school.

The 7 classes were then involved in two activities: one to know the European Charter of Rights, the other about the flags of Europe’s countries! After a final photo, the 170 students went to the square to say goodbye to Bulgaria who had to leave at 12 to reach the train station! The minibus from the Czech Republic accompanied the group to the station!

The students then walked back to school to have lunch by their families and to spend the last afternoon with their new friends!

The professors Patoner and Storniolo, on the other hand, improvised themselves as cooks and prepared an excellent lunch for the Czech teachers. After the coffee, we worked on the E-Twinning and Mobility Tool and then we went shopping!

Czech Republic left at 8 pm in a sea of hugs and tears! Parents thanked them heartily for the great gift they gave their children ... a wonderful experience!

At 8.30 pm the two Italian professors went to the Austrian and German colleagues for the last dinner!

    Saturday 03/06/2022

Departure of Austria at 8.40 am, and Germany at 9.30 am!

Professors Patoner and Storniolo drank their last coffee: it seems incredible that everything went well! The European countries were delighted; the children and their parents had an incredible experience! Perhaps two years of pandemic had made us forget how important and enriching friendship and openness are!
