    Erasmus experience:
    Samos, November 2019

In November 2019, thanks to the Robo Lego EV3 project (ERASMUS+Exchange of ICT practices: Java robot programming in a European context“), me and some students of the Liceo Scientifico Enrico Fermi of Ragusa have been chosen to go to Samos for a cultural exchange with other young people from Germany, Portugal and Greece.

When I was choosen among the other students of my school that attended the Robotics course to go to Samos, I was really excited.

The trip started on 17th November. The flight was amazing.

We could see our land disappearing under our feet and the Greek landscape becoming closer and closer until we finally arrived.

When we arrived at the hotel we were really tired but we immediately went out to admire the place.

During the week we did lots of things like visiting Vathy, the Gymnasium (the school of the Greek group of students).

There we learnt, with all the guys of the project, how to dance traditional Greek dances, we visited the robotics laboratory of our mates and admired a group of professional Greek dancers in the school theatre.

Everything was so funny! We also went to a very interesting archeology museum in Vathy where there was a huge statue. In that museum we took our first photo all together!

Then, near Vathy, we visited a particular underground sanctuary and a monastery and also a place where they produce olive oil.

In the hills near Vathy we also participated to the day of the tree; we planted trees to help the environment: It was a great experience.

We also went to other characteristic and beautiful towns such as Pythagorion, the birth town of Pitagora, where we saw the statue of this important matematician, and we also visited  Kokkari, my favourite town, full of colours where the sea was absolutely fantastic.

Karlovasi is another town where we went to attend a lesson in which two guys explained their robotics project. It was really interesting becouse they taught us the features of the robot they had built. In Kokkari we also met a men who taught us how to create perfect triangles with a simple string.

After the hard week I was a bit tired but also unhappy to fly back to Sicily again. The last night, I remember, I cried so hard whith my new friends. Nobody wanted to leave  but we had to! So we promised to keep in touch.

The day after we returned to Sicily.

I really enjoyed this experience because it taught me a lot and because I met lots of new peole who are now friends of mine. I will never forget this experience!
