A visit to the water power plant

Polish students visited a water power plant to get to know its operation. Wrocław I Water Power Plant is a hydropower plant located in Wrocław on the Odra River. It was built in the years 1921–1924. Two Francis turbines were installed in the power plant. It is a run-of-river power plant. In order to increase the production of electricity in this power plant and in Wrocław II Hydroelectric Power Plant, in 1959 the damming level was increased by 96 cm.

3D experience

Spanish students study the importance of renewable energy to generate electricity, they have experienced the operation of an electrical circuit and how the direct current (DC) generated by a renewable energy source is transformed into alternating current (AC) in order to use that electricity in a house.

Likewise, they could also appreciate and experience how 3D printing is used in energetic and environmental applications.

During Technology lessons the studetns get knowledge about water energy and how to use it. The learn about the construction of water pumps. They design and test their own models.

The trade winds blow and blow, clouds billow across the sea and the Canary Islands bask in an exceptionally benign climate. Put together, all this makes it possible for a phenomenon known as “horizontal rain” to exist and in fact this little-known form of rainfall has an incalculable ecological value particularly because at certain times of the year it outdoes conventional rainfall in both quantity and quality.
