Exchange in Poland

  • From 6th to 13th June the exchange of students in Poland took place. There were integration activities for students of both schools.  Spanish guests visited the Polish school and attended lessons. Getting to know the Polish river system, the partners visited the springs of the the Warta River and had discussion on water energy and problem of water pollution.  Working in international groups- the students created posters „Dangers of water pollution”. They played a volleyball match together. During music workshops, the partners sang together the song of the project in English. During the dance workshops, the Polish students taught the Spanish partners how to dance ‘The Belgian Dance’. There were organised online Chemistry workshops with Mrs Magdalena Osial – a chemist of Polish Academy of Science. The Oxford debate on energy consumption took place.

    The partners visited the Jurassic region -castles, rocks - observations of characteristic landforms, vegetation. They held discussion - how to protect nature. While visiting Cracow, they touched on the topic of river transport (energy), sailing a river boat as well as the problem of smog, destruction of monuments by the influence of acid rain. They attended a lecture on the impact of smog and air pollution on human health and observed the technical condition of monuments influenced by acid rains. Visiting the salt mine in Wieliczka, they conducted an interview with a guide about energy used for mining mineral resources in the past in the comparison with the present. They worked out a presentation.  Visiting Zakopane, the students deepened their knowledge of  geothermal energy, geothermal heating project in Podhale, therms and their impact on health. They prepared a presentation on benefits of using geothermal energy. Visiting the places allowed the Spanish students and teachers to get to know Polish cultural heritage, history and geography.

    During summary meeting, there was a presentation of results of work, the students conducted joint experiments related to energy.  The Spanish students could try some dishes of Polish cuisine, they received certificates confirming participation in the exchange.
