Group 6

  • 1. In January we celebrate the feast of the 3 kings. It is a religious holiday.
    2. In February, we have a fat Thursday (On this day we eat a lot of donuts and my grandmother bakes faworki. These are cookies made of shortcrust pastry and deep-fried. Usually sprinkled with powdered clay)  and Valentine's Day - for lovers.
    3. In March, we celebrate women's day and men's day.
    4. In April, my family celebrates a birthday because some of my relatives have birthdays this month.  Most of our nation celebrates Easter. This holiday is dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus. We also have a "wet Monday" in which children are pouring water guns and adult men go with perfume to, for example, mother-in-law, mother and piss symbolically. We also have prima aprillis - it's a day of jokes, pranks and fun.
    5. We have national holidays in May: the holiday of the flag, the holiday of the constitution on May 3 and the holiday of labor. Also we have Mother;s day
    6. In June, all students of each class stick together after the end of the school year and celebrate the beginning of summer holidays together. We've got Father's day
    7. There are holidays in July and August.
    8. In September, exactly on the first Monday, all students and teachers celebrate the first day of school.
    9. We have a holiday for all teachers in October.
    10. In November, we celebrate All Souls' Day dedicated to death. We visit the graves of our relatives and pray.
    11. In December we have a barbórka, it is a celebration dedicated to miners. December 8th is my birthday, this year on the 18th. In Poland, we have a tradition of celebrating 18 families because they are considered to be crossing the threshold of adulthood. At midnight we have the so-called "folding" where 18 people from the family/ friends hit us with a trouser belt on our bottom for all the bad things we've done so far. On December 24 we celebrate Christmas Eve, which always begins when the first whistle in the sky appears. First, we share the wafer and make Christmas wishes, and then we sit down to the gala dinner. Later, we sing Christmas carols, then we share presents from under the Christmas tree and at midnight we go to church and "Midnight Mass".
We have New Year's Eve from December 31st to January 1st. Usually it is a party with friends or family. We have a great time, we eat. At midnight we shoot fireworks to start the new year! then we also drink the smack and we wish this year to be even better!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every day in Poland someone has a name day, many families care about them, but not all of them. It is often the case that the names are repeated. But the name day is celebrated when our name appears closest to our birthday.
⦁    For example, my birthday is on December 8 and my name day is on December 10.
In addition, in Poland we have holidays dedicated to some thing, for example:
⦁    Chocolate feast, pizza day, bear day, tea day, railwayman's day, doctor's day.
