Melting madder
The custom of melting Marzanna is an old Polish tradition. Marzanna, symbolizing the time of winter and death, is melted with the arrival of spring. It is worth bearing in mind that this tradition is not only related to saying goodbye to winter, but also expresses concern for a good harvest in the upcoming summer season.
In the past, the custom of melting a madder effigy was more common, although now it has many supporters in Poland. It is popular especially in polish city: Śląsk.
