ZS10 - History of our school

  • History of our school

Our school was created by the decision of the education authorities in 1961. At that time it included the Technical Secondary School of Economics No. 7 and the Basic School of Commerce No. 6. The inauguration of the school took place at High School No. 1 at 15 Felińskiego Street, where the first seat of the established school was located. 779 students started the first year 1961/1962. One year later, the Technical Secondary School of Economics for the working was created. In 1963 the School of Economics became a separate organizational unit and was moved to Fontanny Street.

In 1967, by the decision of the school superintendent of the capital City of Warsaw, the school received a new premises at 9/11 Kolektorska Street, which served us until 2011. From that year, the school functioned as the Secondary School of Economics No. 7.

On the tenth anniversary of existence on September 30.1971, the curator of the School District of the Capital City of Warsaw, Mr. Wiesław Kulmiński named the school the name of Stanisław Staszic, which was to accompany our youth in everyday difficult work, setting an example to current generations of Poles. In June 1972 the ceremony of handing over the school banner took place.

In 1985 the school began cooperation with Warszawska Spółdzielnia Spożywców ”Społem”, the effect of which was the creation of Basic Vocational School No. 27, educating in the speciality "seller". Patronal workshops: WSS "Społem” and Przedsiębiorstwo Zaopatrzenia Technicznego Budownictwa ZREMB, enabled apprenticeships for Students of Economic High School and Vocational School.

In September 1985 the school and Vocational School changed the name of the school once again establishing the Economic School Complex No. 10, which included the following units: Stanisław Staszic Secondary School of Economics No. 7, Economic High School for the workers No. 7 and Basic Vocational School No. 7.

In the 90’s we established cooperation with the municipal school in Linkoping in Sweden and the commercial school in Hoxter in Germany, with which there was a systematic exchange of students. The purpose of this exchange was to deepen knowledge about culture and to improve German and English. In 2009 ceremonial celebrations of 10 years of cooperation took place in Warsaw and Hoxter students, authorities, management and teachers took part.

In October 2004 Technical Secondary School of Economics No.7 received the "School with class” certificate in the project „Gazeta Wyborcza” and the Centre for Citizenship Education under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland – Aleksander Kwaśniewski.

In May 1992 the school joined to Polish Society of Staszic Schools. This enabled us to frequently contact with young people from other schools. The Students took part in annual knowledge competitions about Stanisław Staszic.  Participating in scientific symposia every year in June, members of society gathered in one of the school in Poland and exchanged experience in the field of culture and education.

In March 2005, in connection with the proclamation of the Great Pole by Stanisław Staszic by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, our school organised the National Symposium of Staszic Schools.

In 2011 the school received a new building at 10 W. Perzyńskiego St. and since then it has been dynamically developing, educating people in increasingly attractive professions. Currently, School Complex No. 10 consists of Technical School No. 27 training in the following professions: IT technician, tourist service technician, economic technician and forwarding technician.

Currently, the school has about 550 students, which allows building and strengthening positive relationships among young people and enables the creation of a proper learning atmosphere.
