Museum visits in Lithuania

  • The group formed by Vilnius Municipality Grigiškės Gymnasium EU program Erasmus+ project “Museum Education in a Digital Era” set the goal to popularize cultural heritage, which has special value for our future, encourage students to be interested, get acquainted, learn to visualize our country's cultural heritage and promote creativity.

We chose the National Museum - in the Palace of the Rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
This exposition presents the three most important chronological stages of the development of this place and residence: the castle period (development of the territory before the turn of the 15th - 16th centuries), the palace period (16th - 17th centuries), and their destruction, and period of absence (17th - 21st ). Students will see the surviving walls of different periods, and a rich collection of unique archeological artifacts and complete the tasks.

Another museum is the Lithuanian Open-Air Museum. The houses representing each region stand in a natural environment and have the interior and exterior of the respective period. Exhibitions of household appliances, crafts, trade, agricultural machinery and ethnobotany are exhibited inside the buildings. In the center of the museum there is a town with buildings from all over Lithuania. The city has all the necessary elements of the city: a market square with natural stone paving, a church, an inn and houses for various craftsmen and merchants engaged in pottery, weaving, amber and wood crafts.
