IES LA OLIVA is a public high school located in La Oliva, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. It was built about 17 years ago and it has about 465 students and 43 teachers go there evenryday from Monday to Friday from 8.25 to 14.25.

The students who study at our high school are between 12 and 18 years old. They all live in the municipality of La Oliva. La Oliva, Corralejo, Villaverde, Tindaya, El Cotillo, Lajares, Caldereta and Vallebrón are the towns where our students live or are from. They are all far away from each other and public transports are not really good in the area. So the school bus brings most of them to school and takes them home after.

The municipality of La Oliva is quite popular not only in Fuerteventura , but also among the other Canary Islands because in a small place there are several natural parks and protected areas due to its rich flora and fauna. For example Isla de Lobos, Tindaya Mountain, Corralejo Dunes, Corralejo and Cotillo beaches,

The students at our high school take parts in many activities inside the school. At our high school there are what it is called EDUCATION NETS. There are five of these nets at IES LA OLIVA: BIBESCAN NET (it's the one which has to do with the school library and the promotion of activities related to reading, oral and writing expressions, etc), REDESCOS NET (It's the one which takes care about being GREEN and save the environemnt) the  HEALTH NET (it has to to with having healthy habits in our life), the SOLIDARITY NET (it works with issues related with ONGs) and finally the EQUALITY NET (its function is to promote equal rights among us). The important thing with the EDUCATION NETS is that the students are organised to participate and create all the activities and workshops we do to conmmemorate or celebate an especific day. We also have the STUDENT UNION which helps the teachers who are the coordinators of these nets.

It is the first time our high school takes part in an ERASMUS PROJECT so we are really happy and exacted with this new experience.
