5th meeting in Spain

  • Description of the activity:
    - content, methodology and expected results of the activity.
    - relatation and integration with the normal activities of the involved schools

Our fifth transnational meeting at the partner school in Spain in February 2020 is also expected to work as an intermediary evaluation meeting. At this point we, as partner teachers, will be able to re-evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the completed learning, teaching, training activities and make preparations for the activities to follow. The participant teachers, apart from focusing on the intermediary evaluation report of the project, are going to be trained in applying practical ideas to motivate and engage their young learners during indoors and outdoors teaching. Motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is a key factor in the learners' success at all stages of their education, and teachers can play a pivotal role in providing and encouraging that motivation in their learners, ensuring thus their engagement. Therefore, we should all bear in mind that all learners are motivated differently and it takes a lot of time and effort on behalf of the teacher to learn to get them all enthusiastic about learning, working hard, and pushing themselves to excel. By means of this training seminar that will be conducted by our Spanish colleagues, participant teachers are expected to:
*learn how to design meaningful, purposeful, varied learning experiences that will primarily embrace the collaborative teaching approach
*use positive competition and offer rewards while setting high, but attainable goals and providing opportunities for success
*learn how to spread fun and enthusiasm making it contagious in and outside the classroom
*create a threat-free environment and manage learner anxiety
*give learners responsibility and a sense of control, allowing them, for instance, to choose the type of assignment they do or which problems to work on
To this end, guest teachers will be presented with the theoretical background prior to visiting actual classrooms and attending themselves the application of the suggested and recommended techniques. Teachers will be encouraged to share their national and adopted policy suggestions regarding the learners' motivation and engagement, discuss and exchange ideas, opinions, suggestions and observations. Finally, all participant teachers will be invited to plan and deliver a lesson employing these practical ideas to motivate and engage the host learners during History lessons employing photography as a medium to achieve this. All learners from all partner countries will have prepared a pach work of photographs showing the evolution of their school during the last century. They will have the opportunity to exploit archives, old postcards, articles and grandparents' pictures as learners. Teachers involved in this transnational meeting will take advantage of the patch works created to prepare activities that motivate the participating learners and engage them all, pursuing thus familiarization with the local, national and European History, English language and ICT skills development and inclusion.
