2nd meeting in ITALY: learners' triptych

  • Our second transnational meeting at the partner school in Italy, is expected to work as an intermediary evaluation meeting. In February 2019 we have planned to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the completed learning, teaching, training activities and make preparations for the following activities. Two to three teachers from each partner school are going to join the meeting. The participants, apart from focusing on the intermediary evaluation report of the project, are going to be trained in the exploitation of the eTwinning platform as valuable collaborative tool and present their learners' triptych.
    To be more precise, training on the eTwinning platform is going to take place in the computer lab in cooperation with the Italian learners, who are already quite familiar with it. By the end of this training seminar and workshop, guest teachers and host learners will be able to appreciate this platform for the opportunity it gives them to perform synchronous and asynchronous communication, use it as a bulletin board and participate in discussion forums. In addition, they will be given the chance to present their learners' activities, organize events and respect the project deadlines predetermined by the project schedule. By editing their profiles, teachers and learners can interact with each other in threads of discussions presented in the forum and exchange ideas, experiences and projects that they are to learn how to create and upload in the platform. Last but not least, all participants are going to be trained on how to embed collaborative tools in the platform and how to organize a Live Event, in order to allow learners to meet online and collaborate in an activity or task.
    This activity is related to the pursued teachers' and learners' familiarity and advance in the use of ICT and English language, as well as the development of the learners' communicative, life and social skills. It will be integrated as part of the ICT curriculum and it will address both guest teachers and host learners.
    Apart from training, all teachers are expected to present their learners' triptych: Each student is going to present himself/herself by means of 3 photographs - one that will be a regular portrait focusing on the face, one full-body photograph with clothes and objects that the learner likes and express his/her personality and one last photograph combining the face of the pupil with who s/he wants to be later, in the future (photo montage using photoshop). This activity is expected to enhance the learners' critical thinking and English speaking skills and involve all learners from each participating school. This particular activity can be integrated in the Art and English lesson, as part of the Italian curriculum.
