Activity contest

  • Our pupils got a task to mark down how many minutes a week they move. They were very diligent, counting the minutes in every activity, for example: walking to and from school, PE class, moving around the house, sport activities, etc. The result we got is 15.42 hours  (925 minutes) a week per student. It is 2.2 hours a day, which is exactly the recommended amount for children their age.

Results of Activity contest week in Tuira school

As part of the Erasmus-project was to encourage pupils to move. Children at the age of 7 to 18 should move two hours a day. For one week everyone marked down how many minutes they moved.

During the first week from the 11th of March to the 15th of March the pupils marked 10172 marks. It means that the total amount of exercise was 1695 hours and 33 minutes. In average one student had 8 hours and 20 minutes exercise in one week.

During the second week from the 8th of April to the 12th of April the students marked 10652 marks. It means that the total amount of exercise was 1775 hours and 33 minutes. In average one student had 8 hours and 44 minutes in one week.

There was a little bit less exercise than what is the recommendation (two hours a day). Partly this is because there were lots of pupils ill and they couldn´t move.
