One of the main aims of the project was to change school culture towards more well-being. The ideal situation would have been that the whole school culture in each project school would perfectly support well-being at school. The fact is that school culture and stubborn practices at school are difficult to change in a few years. The surveys that were made during the project showed that project has had an impact to the school cultures. This project didn't change the whole school culture, but it gave the first push to a journey towards well-being school culture.
This project aimed to form a model of well-being school. The idea was that the model would include for example good procedures of health and well-being and activities which will help school to be more well-being. These activities about physical and mental well-being were written down to the booklet. Activities are easy to implement as they are written or with a little variation in project schools or in any other school around world. Based on the surveys the most important thing in well-being school are teachers who are feeling well. When teachers are feeling well, they have strength to support pupils well-being and spread positive energy with their actions.
At pupils’ level the aim was to increase knowledge and tools about well-being. Also learning about new cultures, encouraging pupils to use foreign language and getting a feeling of being a part of the international cooperation. At the project schools there are many pupils that doesn’t have chance to travel so this project made it possible for them to meet peoples from other countries. Then they can get a feeling of being a part of bigger community than just their own school. The final surveys showed that pupils feel that their knowledge has increase during this project. From the results can be seen that for pupils the most exciting and memorable thing was when their school hosted a meeting and pupils met teachers from another countries. At pupils’ level all the planned objectivities have met.
Strengthen and empowering the teacher’s profession was the focus in this project. After each Learning, Teaching and Training activity there was a feedback survey for participants. Teachers who participated was asked what was good in the meeting, what kind of new ideas they got and what are they going to use in their work. In these surveys nearly everyone had the feeling that they got new procedures what they will be using in their classroom. They also felt like their awareness of well-being or their own well-being had increased because of workshops in the meetings. At teachers level the planned objectivities have met.
With the increased knowledge of pupils and teachers the awareness of well-being has spread to parents and other background organizations and stakeholders.
