To mark the Numeracy Week, we organised different activities, all of them aiming at developing mathematical, scientific and technological competence. Every day of this week, during the break, students had a chance to take part in different individual, pair and group activities: tangram, yamb, Rubik’s cube, “4 in a row in a mathematical way”. A group of students, helped by the maths teacher, created a board game to developing mathematical and financial competence. We also organised a popular Bottle Flip Challenge. The goal was, however, not only to be the most precise “flipper”, but also to predict the winner applying mathematical procedures. The competition took place during three days: the first two as semi-finals and the last one as the final. The output of the activities of the Numeracy Week is the game especially created for this occasion. The fact that our students became more self-aware of their maths skills and how to apply them in different, close-to-life situations.
