    EGILS (LV)

I personally think the problem is as much in youth as in government. Youth often blames politicians, but they are often lazy, pick a wrong speciality. A lot of young people are set in their ways, so they will blame the government.

Employers are judging the personality of an employee. It`s important to show  the employer your best- that you will be responsible, hardworking. It increases your chances of successful interview. The youth has to look at the job demand, improve their shills, so they can offer more to employer.

    VALTERS (LV)

Young people after graduation university don`t have any job experience. Business owners often seek out employees who have worked before, but young folks have no ways of getting it. Some countries, including Latvia, providde students with chanceof getting a summer job and some early experience, and this is ofter their only chance to do so.

Sometimes people simply end up studying for jobs with no demand at the moment. Many seek out  subject which seem easy or fun to learn, but there is no demand for those categories of specialists (e.g. sociology, ethics, women`s studies e.t.c.) I believe such studies should become secondary to ones that earn you a living.

Overall  I would say that situation is similar all over Europe. So as long as people have a logical plan about their future, they can survive.

    KĀRLIS (LV)

Choosing right education is one way to get a job. If it is right way of education, it will be easier to find a job. But anyway it`s not guarantee to get a job. I even think that there is no point in university education, if you can`t get aa job.

    INITA (LV)

It is difficult to find a job where working hours aren`t in same time as your studies. Eveni if the work is in the evening. And you have to do homeworks too .It is difficult.

    ROBERTS (LV)

Students have to take a loan to study. Then  they have to get a job while studying to survive and pay back. It`s really hard, because there is unemployment.

    JĀNIS (LV)

Not everyone who wants to study can get into university because of high costs. There are countries where stability of economics is not high and education is not free.

    RENĀRS (LV)

One of the reasons might be that some young people can`t sustain themselves and  they live with their parents.

On the other hand it`s quite a bit unfair towards the paople who have studied and want to get a job and live their lives. Some real quality education costs lots of money, and many people can`t afford it.

    DĀVIDS (LV)

Firstly, to get employed you need intelligent head, hardworking hands and right thinking. Good conversation skills are important as well.

Well, the Italian documentary was very educational for me, because I really didn´t know about these problems which young people need to deal with in Italy. I just thought you eat pizzas, chill on a beach and don´t have any problems. So thank you for teaching me about the problems in Italy.

    Libor (Czech Rep.)

Well I don't know if this problem is topical, because the documentary is almost 6 years old. I did a little research on the google from where I've got information that nowadays the situation in our country is similar. But I don't want to be offensive or something like that because I don't live in Italy(everything I said is founded on the information from google...) .

    Sandra (Czech Rep.)

I’m sorry they had problems with unemployment in Italy 6 years ago, but I don’t live there and I didn’t know anything about their current situation. So I’ve done a small research and I´ve found out that their unemployment rate is about two times higher than before. Now I know that I should be more grateful that I live in the Czech Republic.

    Jakub C. (Czech Rep.)

I think, this is not only a problem of Italy. In other European countries the economic crisis is not so big because we are farther from immigrants than Italy. Everybody knows that Italy is near the Mediterranean Sea.
So good luck young people in Italy.

    Rostislav (Czech Rep.)

It´s really sad, that there are so many uneployed people in Italy, and I hope that it will get better soon.

    Statharas G. (GR)

In this video we realize the problem that the young Italians face concerning finding a job and a more stable job and not temporary ones, although they have great qualifications. Young brilliant scientists face unemployment and it has consequences on their lives. In the best case, if they are employed the get paid only with low salaries and here is where the problems arise from low payment to unemployment. This situation seems to deteriorate nowdays, in Italy and in Greece.

    Stamatis S. (GR)

The problem is not only in Italy. I think it's widespread. This happens in Greece too. Finding it difficult to find work they live with their parents and grandparents and most often they are supported by them. Living with them  plays a critical role and affects their quality of life from many sides.  And there is always the question: “What will happen when parents are not there to support them? Young Italians are often paid  with a salary coming up to 600 euro and even less.

    Koletsis E. (GR)

I think that it will be more difficult in future not only in Greece and Italy but also in many European countries young people to find a job easily. There is also always the fear that they may get redundant and fired. Trying to find another job seems sometimes impossible. Being forced to stay at home young people are worried about their future on the whole. They feel that they can’t cope with austerity any more watching the opportunities to get less and less. Too many brillian Greek boys and girls leave our country to find a proper job somewhere abroad.

    Lappas N. (GR)

The economic crisis is forcing young people to stay at home with parents as they can't support themselves. Everyone is worried about their future. They try to be heard holding demonstrations against austerity policies and fighting for better living conditions but it seems to be very difficult to change sth to the better. I wouldn't like to go away just to find a job. I think I can't stand being alone meeting only with foreign people. I am sure i will miss my people.

    Keke P. (GR)

The question is if the state doen’t invest in young people then they don't invest in the future at all. A great number of young people decides to immigrate to countries with better job opportunities and prospects for carrier. The state has spent huge amounts of money to educate young people and then another country hosts them without having spend even a penny for their education.  In fact it’s real madness!

    Takoumakis S. (GR)

Definitely I don't want to immigrate to find a job and leave my country. I would prefer to earn less and stay here. The problem is to find a job in Greece. There are great responsibilities on politicians part that have left things to come to this point. One country’s economy affects the other’s and so on because of globalization. We hope that the powerful of the Europe with think better and make plans in order to make sure that the situation will improve for everyone’s benefit.

    Zokos A. (GR)

Do I seem to ask a lot when I express my desire to live in my country? The state and the politicians have to do sth for us the civilians. During the previous century Greeks emigrated as workers all over the world to find a better life. Now educated people do the same. Something must be done to stop this fleeing away. Lowering salaries in the name of getting the products and companies more competitive, seems to end nowhere but to a vicious circle. It seems to be the cause for further damage of the economic situation of the country, which more and more gets unable to provide the basic to the civilians. Health care, education, accommodation. I pray the situation gets better and we, the new generation, have to do sth about it. We have to change bad mentality and become more responsible persons. Our governors also so do the same.

    Bobotas V. (GR)

I feel sorry for Italian young people and the rest young people that have no other choice but leaving their country. The same and even worse situation face young Greeks. No matter whether they are University Graduates or not they face unemployment or badly paid temporary jobs.  Even if they plan to start their own job they are not supported by the state as they have to pay high tax and insurance, while there is great uncertainty on whether they will be able to sell their services or products to people that have difficulty to even provide for their family the most substantial for survival.

    Litrivis M. (GR)

Many young people, with great education, decide to flee away to northern European countries like Germany, Swinden, Norway, Holland, or even further to the USA, Australia or elsewhere. Who is going to work efficiently in order Greece to get out of this bad economic situation? This is a difficult question to answer. I will try and make my best not to leave my country. I love it, I love my people, my city and my neighborhood. I also love the sun, the see and the life in Greece. I think it's better to have less money and stay in my country than more and be away. But if there is no job for me in the future, it's certain that I will have to do something even going away.

    Martinou K. (GR)

Young people face with insecurity, self -rejection, disappointment, dependence and not being able to lead their own life the way they want, not being able to support themselves and create a family, losing their self-respect. Those are some of the difficulties and dead ends that young  people face almost in most countries in Europe these days not only in Italy or Greece. Perhaps things are more serious in South Europe but I think crise is spread all over Europe and perhaps all over the world. We hear about countries that are in war and people lose everything even their lives. We hear about countries that earn a couple of euros per month. These people definitely don't live, they die. We are not in such terrible situation. But why should countries that prosper go back to bad times, like 50's and 60s of the previous century? We all citizens have to get more thinking people and try to participate to social affair and try to make our goverments think about peoples' wellfare instead of leading the countries to disaster.

    Roumbeka A. (GR)

I can say that I prefer to work in my country and get less money than going away. Even if i don't have all the necessary i used to enjoy in my family and if i have to make cuts in my life and live with less, i think I will be pleased. We always hear that  it is necessary to have a more competitive economy, so there must be a reduce of wages. This is a vicious circle. Pay cut leads to reduction in buying products and services, reduction in the production of wealth and national product.  People don’t get enough money, people don’t spend money, the state doesn’t collect taxes, the state doesn’t work efficiently or doesn’t work at all. We can see that there are European countries that have very low wages and their economy doesn't rise. I think austerity leads nowhere. Of course we have to make innovations on every industrial and service level. Many branches have to stop producing and new ones more progressive have to start running according to the demands of current times.

    KARLIS LV

In my opinion main reason why young people can't get job is because employers don't want people with no experience working for them. But where are young people just out of school, university, have spent their time, money supposed to go and work. Employers want people with work experience, but how are you supposed to have experience if you can't get work. That just doesn't make sence, it just contradicts itself.

    RENARS LV

One of the biggest problems young people have is a way to find a job. From the film, I can very well tell that even the most educated people can’t find their jobs just, because of the job demands. One really big factor that can be pulled from this, is that some young people dedicate their education on something that is already taken by other people and, they study and study and in the end, all they can do is just hope that you’re a better person to get employed. And because of this many young people live with their parents, until they someday get a job. In my opinion that’s just cruel and unfair to so many young people, because if they want to get a job that they have been studying for their whole life, they should get that job. But here the problem again with the job demands, some jobs just need a couple of people, so many get turned away and have decide what should they even do next

    SUMMARY (by Greek students)

We, young people from Latvia, Czech Republic, Italy and Greece, seem to face, more or less, the same problems concerning our future. Austerity policies seem to make a vicious circle with no end. Economic crises seem to deteriorate the whole situation. The bad prospects of carrier and the lack of job opportunities seem to affect us to a high degree with discouraging results on our psychology. Our hope evaporates and destroys our dreams. It seems to reinforce the badly meant competitiveness among young people. The phenomenon seems to go beyond Italy and Greece, it seems to spread out to most European countries and even more.

Watching the Italian film “No country for young people”, we come to the conclusion that today young people:

    1. Have great difficulty in finding a job without previous experience, even if there is high qualification competency.
    2. Are obliged to stay at home and be supported by parents and this destroys our self-confidence and self-respect.
    3. Spend a lot of family money on education, but high rates of unemployment, especially between young people, increase the feeling of uncertainty and disappointment.
    4. Think we are asked too much on educational and skill level to get a job and work area has been turned into very competitive one with little or no job opportunities at all.
    5. Think that we may be forced to abandon higher education as it doesn’t prove to be a safe factor for getting a job in our countries, depriving us the right to become more wholesome personalities.
    6. Lose our trust in State and in politicians, feel unprotected and at risk on survival level.
    7. Feel anger and rage about previous governments and generations, as they have inherited us this situation and have condemned us in a life without dignity, obliging us do leave our home country, trying to find a job and become financially independent.
    8. Feel that we flee away to countries with more job opportunities as the only solution, although we would prefer to avoid it if given the chance.
    9. Do prefer to stay in our own countries with less money, than emigrating, missing our people, family and relatives, customs and habits, being strangers among strangers.
