  • How historically accurate the 'Iron Horse' is?

    150th anniversary of the railway

This video is a report on the restoration of large steam locomotives. There is a whistle that is really to be heard. They restored 25 Locomotives built in 1940 as well as these big wheels. All of this is done to celebrate the railroad holiday of the transcontinental railroad built at the request of President Lincoln. As a reminder, the goal was to connect the west to the east with railways. It happened on May 10, 1869 in Utah.
The people present in this photo of the ceremony are Asian because it is thanks to their labor that the path was able to be created. They had an important place in this project but overnight, they were driven out of where they lived. So it's a tribute this 150th anniversary

    the transcontinental railroad
This extract from the "Iron Horse" is about the reconstruction of one of the biggest steam locomotives on the western rails. It was rebuilt by Dickens and his crew of Union Pacific workers over a period of 5 years to bring the engine back to life and to celebrate the Transcontinental Railroad Holiday, as requested by President Lincoln. They tried to rebuild it with all the elements of the past: the whistle, the wheels and its own steam. It is one of the 25 locomotives built in the 40's. In 1940, the goal was to connect the West to the East.

Things that are different in both movies Poland

The film about the construction of the train mentions that 90% of the people who were actively involved in the construction of the train are Chinese, but the film “Iron Horse” does not mention this or show it.

The construction of the transcontinental railroad

For the construction of the transcontinental railroad, 20,000 workers were hired, the vast majority of them were Chinese. However, these were paid less than Whites whereas did the same work. This is explained by an anti-Chinese movement coming from the American nation; because they are immigrants.
