SCHOOL DESCRIPTION

  • MUSTAFA ASIM CULA ORTAOKULU is a state school founded in 1988 caters for 10 to 14 year old students in a compulsory secondary education situated in the central residential part of Antalya province which is in the south of the  Mediterranean coastline.

            Antalya, the Turkish Riviera is the most stunning part of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Antalya has a backdrop of stunning mountain scenery, and the city is set high on cliffs, with many of its grandest hotels overlooking the sea on the outskirts of the town. The beach area of Lara, Konyaaltı, Aspendos (an important center of trade during Roman times), Phaselis, Perge, Demre are the most popular historical and natural beauty sites of Antalya region. 

            The school is  small but very active with 29 teachers and 483 students . Our aim is to promote students’ awareness of their social and national responsibility for upholding a democratic, secular republic to empower their learning by encouraging intellectual exploration in the light of their uncovered individual interests and abilities. Our aim is to enable our students to stay in touch with current thinking and latest educational development. Students will, therefore, acquire at least one foreign language and gain respect for the environment and awareness of the importance of their physical well being.

             Our school offers a compulsory state education curriculum including subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Turkish, English,ICT, Art, Music,Drama,Religion and Morals and PE. They will recognize the value of sports, music, and fine arts; have an international and intercultural perception of life;  adopt universal values as they develop their qualifications academically for success in higher education and further. 

            Students have a diverse cultural and educational background due to an allocation of different nationalities, ethnic minorities, different cultures, in the area. We organised activities and special events to provide students with a maximum of cultural knowledge. It has done a lot in order to integrate students with different backgrounds into  education e.g. mentor arrangements, flexible training models, cooperation with other schools, parents, enterprises and social partners. Further, the school has carried out comprehensive competence development of teachers and managers. 30% of our students are from a disadvantaged socio-economic background when compared with the average standard in the town centre. We have  a large number of SEN students who follow  'Individual Education Programme' in mixed ability classes. The SEN students are actively included  school life and put into support groups where their special needs are catered for. Families contribute actively to the running of the school by means of the Parents’ Association . It also has the support of the local authorities in the town hall and regular contact with the social and cultural non-profit organizations . 

           Our school has strong partnerships with neighbouring schools. We have taken part in important championships on art and  sports like chess,table tennis activities held in our province.  Administrators, teachers, students, families and communities in cooperation with local authorities will reveal development in  the objectives and strategies and also win the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve this goal. They have been  working together at our school, we will give a new shape to   the future of our school with this project.

     Our school is an educational trust, aims to develop productive, creative and responsible attitudes in individuals while working in national and international contexts, aiming to make positive contributions to both the country and the world's future, and giving priority to scientific thought defines MACSS (Mustafa Asım Cula Secondary School) as a foundation apart.
