La bataille de la crête du Transloy dure du 1er au 18 octobre. C'est la dernière offensive de la 4ème armée britannique durant la bataille de la Somme. Beaucoup de bataillons de la DLI y participent : les 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th et 20th.
La météo est très pluvieuse, les soldats très fatigués, et les Britanniquesne remportent que quelques succès, comme la prise de Le Sars par les 12th et 13th bataillons de la DLI.
Ils ont beaucoup de pertes humaines et matérielles.

The battle of the crest of Transloy lasted from October 1st to October 18th. This is the last offensive of the 4th British army during the Battle of Somme. Many DLI battalions take part in the attack: the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and the 20th.
The weather is bad. It is raining a lot and the soldiers are exhausted… the British rarely achieved a victory such as the one of Le Sars when the 12th and 13th DLI battalions conquered the village.
Human casualties and material losses are tremendous.
