We organized a basketball tournament under the guidance of our physical education teacher Mehmet Bakan. The students showed great interest. All the classes of the school were represented.
3RD TERM ACTIVITY- Our Nature is Our Future
We organized a planting tree activity together with Aksaray Goververship and Aksaray Forest Management Directorate. The other day TEMA (NGO) volunteers made a presentation about the importance of protecting our nature.
3RD TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY- Do a Favour
*In our activity, we have carried out studies in order to provide financial and moral aid to our target groups that we have determined through the studies we carried out with the representatives of the municipality, neighborhood headmen and NGOs. We have tried to meet the needs of the elderly, disabled, poor, refugees and patients in our studies. We also have not neglected the animals, plants and nature of our neighborhood. We have tried to keep the extent of our goodness movement as wide as possible by cleaning up our neighborhood, feeding the animals and showing compassion.
2ND TERM CULTURAL ACTIVITY-The Hand-woven Turkish Carpet
Weaving is one of the very oldest arts.
The general idea is that the carpet is developed by nomadic tribes.
The oldest known carpet is the Pazırık carpet.
It was woven in Central Asia between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC.
Carpeting was born and developed in Anatolia, Caucasia and Iran.
It spread from these countries to the world.
Hand-woven carpets are made in almost every region of our country today.
Some popular ones are Uşak, Gördes and Aksaray (our hometown) carpets.
Sultanhan Town is one of the world famous places in carpet repair.
There is also the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Traditional Textiles at Aksaray University.
As it is so important for our culture, we wanted to learn weaving carpets.
We went to the Lifelong Learning Center of our town and told about our idea.
They were very happy to help us.
First of all we watched them carefully.
They were so fast!
When we sat aside them, they showed us some techniques.
We learned stitching.
They were so helpful.
It was great fun!
The next week, we decided to weave our own carpet.
We painted the plan of our carpet on a piece of millimetric paper.
The instructor helped us preparing the loom.
We could make it in a week.
2ND TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY-Being a school staff for a day
We wanted to make an activity for our school.
So we decided to be a school staff for a day.
Our headmaster accepted our offer happily.
In the morning we watered the flowers.
Then we helped with gardening.
At noon we got rubbish in the school garden.
In the afternoon we tidied the teachers’ room.
And finally we helped cleaning the classrooms.
The janitor, an old aunt, showed satisfaction by hugging us.
We were so happy at the end of the day!
2ND TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY-Fancy Dress Party
Children prepared their own creative costumes and we all together made conversations using our costumes with beverages and meals.
