3RD TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Following the experience form last year, "El Gran Paso" volunteer group hosted the primary students coming next year in an open doors day at our school. The guided the children around our facilities and shared their experiences with them so they are not afraid when the new school year starts.
3RD TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
As soon as the good weather appeared, the project organized an outdoor activity on the beach for the groups of students that have won the Carnival competitions of songs and costumes. The PE Department arranged several beach sports to enjoy the sun and the water.
3RD TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
The CLIL students worked on a project about scientific women. The starting point was the Internation Day of women and girls in science in February, and then March 8th. From then on, they created digital posters with QR codes in them which link to videos recorded by them whre they show the lives of those women and the obstacles they found in their carreer. They made an exhibition with the posters at school. You can see a short video below.

2ND TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Charity day at CEIP Gran Canaria: On March 16th our neighbour Primary School - CEIP Gran Canaria, organized its usual Charuty Day in favour of a NGO. This year, the favoured association was one related to children suffering form cancer. Our committe helped with organization of the activities and encouraged the rest of the students to take part in the Charity Race.
2ND TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
During the term, the PE department has been coordinating a football championship in the breaks. There have been male and female teams and the finalist teams were from 2º Bachillerato and 3rd secondary. The older ones eventually won the tournament.
2ND TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Carnival contest: On february 9th, we organized a carnival contest. Every group of students had to design a costume with recycled items. They were amazing and did an incredible work with the help of their teachers.
1ST TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Halloween workshops: make up and masks - On October 30th, the ELLEY team organized two workshops for Halloween with the help of our Professional Students od textile design and Beauty. All our students could make their own masks or enjoy a terrifying make up.
1ST TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Introduction to Handball: Escaleritas Handball Club has come to our school to give some free lessons to our students in order to make them learn the rules and basic techniques of this sport.
1ST TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 2ND YEAR
Teambuilding day: On October 13th, our older students organized a trip in the country with activities for the younger ones. The day out was a success and it worked to build strong bonds between students.
3RD TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
Swing workshop: The Physical Education Department coordinated a dance workshop for our students. The Teacher Soledad Monte showed us the secrets of Swing.
3RD TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
On June 21st, Spanish, Art and Music Departments organized a crosscurricular activity with our youngest students. This activity was inspired by a previous one in which they had to create collages out of rubbish and natural items found in a walk in the mountains. They wanted to show the difference between a clean and a dirty environment and they did it through a dance they performed for their partners,

3RD TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
At IES La Minilla, students have organized a book collection. Parents and students can bring novels or comics to our library and the Spanish Department will organize them into levels. The Project will buy suitcases for each level, so the books could easily be transported to any classroom.
2ND TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
The Physical Education Department together with the English Department organized a walk in the mountains for the setudents of 1st year of secondary. Once at the top of the mountain, students enjoyed a gymkana in which they had to find certain items to be used afterwards in Art lessons.
2ND TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
Last February, our vocational students from Beauty and Wellness and Textile design held two Carnival workshops funded with ELLEY Budget. All the secondary students atended and they got wonderful make up and nice accesories for Carnival.
Carnival is a very traditional holiday in the Canary Islands and there is a lot of handicraft work around it. Our students were able to approach to two of them in these workshops.
2ND TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
The Art department organized the collages made by students of 1st year of secondary. The items used for this activity were the ones picked up by them in the physical activity of this term. The aim of these collages are to make students aware of the different emotions that a dirty or clean environment can cause. There are two differente collages: made out of rubbish and made out of natural bits found in nature. You can see an example of both below.
1ST TERM PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
On the 29th September, IES La Minilla organized its first Physical activity. 34 students and 4 teachers enjoyed the starry sky at the top of gran Canaria. We were able to see the International Space Station above us.
1ST TERM CREATIVE ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
Last December IES La Minilla hold a creative workshop on the tradition of Nativity scenes. Teacher Luis Espí led the workshop with our 1º ESO students and some of them volunteered to create our own Nativity scene for the school with the help of Asuncion Medina, former teacher of handicrafts.
1ST TERM ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP ACTIVITY - 1ST YEAR
Last December, IES La Minilla joined a campaign in Facebook to provide Pyjamas and toiletries to a residence for the elderly in our town. Our students and teachers did their best at collecting money to support the cause.
